About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be an explorer of the world

ABOUT ME

I am an outgoing, fun-loving people person. I love learning about different cultures and listening to different views of the world. I consider myself very fortunate to have found an area of study for a job I know I am going to love. I am always up for an adventure, or just a good time!

PHILOSOPHY

I live life with passion and compassion.

“The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it but it is too low and we reach it.” - Michelangelo

I think I am a very ambitious person, but at the same time can be realistic, and tell myself not to get ahead of myself thinking about my future plans as a vet. I love this quote as it reminds me not to settle for less just because I'm afraid of falling short.

I have friends who believe that life is over once they graduate from university and settle into a full-time job. But I am so excited about the opportunities that await me once I leave the safe little bubble of being a student. I am looking forward to the places I will be in, the things I will see and the people I will be so fortunate to meet!

Music, Movies, and Books

With movies and music, I don't have a general rule for what takes my fancy - I just like what I like. There is definitely a whole spectrum of things!

A fair few of the movies I have enjoyed have had animals in them, most recently being Life of Pi, which was made more special because I'd watched it in a movie theatre in Berlin, the first time I'd caught a film at the cinema in a city that I wasn't living in. Other movies I like range from the quirky like Amélie and Juno, to the more sombre like American History X and Shawshank Redemption. I do also enjoy Pixar films every once in a while - who couldn't use a bit of cheer amidst the hectic day-to-day?

My musical taste isn't to everyone's liking. I listen to anything from Daughter and Sujfan Stevens, to Modest Mouse and The Strokes. But my favourite band of all time that shaped my growing years has to be Metric.

I don't read very much, but I definitely loved the Harry Potter series and The Hunger Games trilogy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was lucky enough to have taught in a special needs school for 2 months during the summer between the 2nd and 3rd year of vet school. Just thinking of the smiles and the wide-eyed innocence of those beautiful children warms my heart!

I was also a volunteer zoo keeper at the Singapore zoo for 4 weeks in the lead up to vet school. I got to get up close and personal with so many amazing animals - I loved every minute of it!

Travel-wise, I went snorkelling in Pulau Tioman in Malaysia and got to swim with all the brilliantly coloured fish. We even saw a sea turtle and a barracuda! I love experiencing the wonderful creatures of earth first-hand.

Teach, Learn, Share

Though the short amount of time we will meet will only allow for taster sessions, I would be more than happy to help you practise your English, teach you phrases in Mandarin, Cantonese or Japanese, impart some of my culinary skills (or let you hone your abilities as a food critic!) or, if I am hosting you, even show you a couple of songs on the ukulele or guitar!
