About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn, to grow, and to live.

ABOUT ME

I believe in creating a life you love and being the change you'd like to see. Since I was young I have always loved drawing and painting. Creating visuals is something that excites me. I have a degree in graphic design and am an aspiring painter. Outside of my career aspirations I love new experiences. Traveling renews your spirit and teaches you things you can't learn any other way. The things I want to build my life around are the simple treasures; traveling, creating art, and keeping the people that lift me up around.

PHILOSOPHY

Never Give Up. Its not the amount of times you fail, its the amount of times you get back up. I work to cultivate persistence, and positivity. I also believe that happiness is not a destination but rather a constant mentality.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm very new to this and at this point I'm looking to be hosted. I don't have an apartment of my own that I have jurisdiction over at this time but when I do I'd love to host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This spring, 2015, I took a cross country road trip and was lucky again to have some great couch surfing hosts.

The summer of 2014 backpacked across Europe and was very fortunate to be hosted by some amazingly hospitable and interesting people.

One of my favorite experiences with couchsurfing was when a friend of mine named Josh who I had only met once previously at a concert was passing through my town, Buffalo NY, on his way to Austin Texas with his two friends. They ended up crashing at my place by chance. We ate, talked and painted pictures together. It was a nice little experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: "Think on these Things"- Krishnamurti, "Where the Sidewalk Ends" and "Falling Up"-Shell Silversteen "Ways of Seeing" -John Berger, The Harry Potter series, Charles Bukowski (author), Alan Watts (philosopher)
Music: Too many to mention but hip hop and jazz along the experimental vein especially, classic rock, alternative rock.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my favorite memories was a time when I traveled to Jamaica to participate in a volunteer program in the public schools. Most of the volunteers were musicians studying music therapy. One night we sat on a cliff overlooking the ocean under the vast night sky that was peppered with stars. One of my friends had a guitar and we sat there enjoying the view and singing songs together for hours.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to learn about the customs and lifestyles in countries other than my own. I'd like to learn to cook new dishes. I'm interested in the perspectives of others.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I could share some of my artwork, and poems as well as my thoughts and views on life and art.

I would love to cook for anyone who hosted me. I'm a pretty good cook I'd say and I love to cook for others.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Macedonia, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In
