About Me
ABOUT ME
I am pretty cool guy that knows to have fun but always when to get to work. I like traveling gaining new experiences. I have a passion for serving others, education, and volunteer work. I teach history at a high school in China now. I have been here for a few years and I love my job and students. It has been a great opportunity. Obviously, I love to travel and look forward to more adventure travel in the future.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet people to travel with and to share experiences with. I enjoy getting to now a place, I don't like being a tourists to be honest with you. I think that is why we are all on CS. The traps, the crazy fees, and the non-sense. I find it a much better experience to hang with a people in an area to find more about them and the place I am visiting. So yeah, CS is the way the forward for sure.
Interests
I really enjoying traveling, 90's rock music lifting weights and the NFL or any sport for that matter. I used to live in England for a little while I got into some football and rugby there as well. I enjoy playing guitar, I would never say that I am very good, but I CAN play, so I have that going for me. I am really into international politics and development work. I was recently in India, working on a research project for Tribal peoples in underdeveloped areas in the country.
Music, Movies, and Books
Honestly, my favorite movie is the Saw series. I know, I know, that sounds so cheesy and horrible. I am not working hard enough to impress those out there on CS. Ok, if I wanted to be pretentious, I would say, my favorite movie is actually a play called NO EXIT. 'Hell is other people'. Whats that you ask, EXACTLY!! No seriously, it is a cool play.
Music, I love tool, korn, rammstein, marilyn manson, nine inch nails, and also just listen to whatever, 90s rock forms the nexus of my musical taste and the other genres that surround it. But honestly, don't have the time anymore to find any good music, so I am open to suggestions.
Books, I like Bill Bryson, he is a quasi -historian who writes popular books that explain history in an entertaining way. He also was the chancellor at my uni in the UK.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I went scuba diving in the great barrier reef with my friends during my year abroad.
When I bungee jumped in Australia.
And the time when I volunteered at an orphanage in Kenya. One of the most amazing experiences of my life.
I very happy to say that
Teach, Learn, Share
I know loads about history. I studied in America, Australia, England, and even spent a little time in Germany. So I would love share my wisdom about History with some who is interested. I can also teach you a little bit of German and I am studying Chinese. So we can practice that.
I would love to learn more about the development and non-profit work. I am toying with the idea of starting my own NGO or social business.
And I have stories galore, so I check out in that department.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I think that I have a great sense of humor that can really brighten up the place. I try to have a positive out look on life and a relaxed attitude about pretty much everything, so there won't be any problems in that department, no worries. But if someone tells me what they would like I will try to my best to accommodate them and just vibe.
