ABOUT ME

I am from Melbourne Australia. I have been travelling for 3 months as I made my way through China and then hopped on the transiberian from Beijing to St.Petersburg. Now I am roaming Europe as I try to secure a new job to hopefully settle here for a year or two...fingers crossed!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It is only early days for me on couch surfing, but the two experiences I have had in Stockholm and Berlin have been extremely positive and enjoyable! I cant wait to meet new and interesting people throughout the rest of Europe.

Obviously I love to travel and experience new people, cultures food (!) and environments.I have been a very sporty and active person with my two major passions being Australian Rules Football and Surfing. If I was not playing footy, then i enjoy nothing more than getting out of the city and down the coast to go surf and hang out with my mates.Photography is now my favorite hobby and loving capturing photos or the different places and people I encounter along the journey. Recently I have got into using a retro film camera called a Diana from lomography, and this have given me a fascinating different view of my trip!I also love live music and music festivals, drawing and have a real passion for animals and the natural world.

I love music of all types but I guess my preferred choices range from folk to indie rock....bands like Beach House, Local Natives, Grizzly Bear, M Ward and Fleet Foxes to name just a few! Other classic favorites include Johnny Cash, The Beatles and Bob Dylan...but I guess I am not on my own there! I am a big supporter of Australian music some of my favorites include Holly Throsby, Sleepy Jackson, Big Scary, You Am I, The Panics and TZU.Movies are always hard to narrow down, but some that I have enjoyed recently are In Bruges, Inglorious Bastards, Chopper, Juno and Boy (very funny New Zealand movie for those that have not seen it!).Reading is certainly not a passion but when I do read I have liked crime novels by Elmore Leonard and recently have just really enjoyed reading In Cold Blood by Truman Capote.

Travelling on the train from Beijing to St.Petersburg is easily the greatest experience of my life. Over 4 weeks I spent a total of 155 hours on the train!! Experiencing the isolated wilderness of Mongolia by horse back, traditional Russian saunas in the middle of Siberia and soaking up the beauty of St.Petesburg are just a taste of what made the whole thing so incredible!
