Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Charlie!
I'm about to embark upon a 2-3 month trip across the USA, a bucket list item I've had as long as I can remember. Along the way I'm hoping to meet and stay with some amazing people and experience the vastly varying cultures the US has to offer!
The fact I always seem to struggle to write an "About Me" may go a long way to describe me. I'm laid back and easy going, but love to get out and experience different cultures, sights, personalities. I'm often lost for words but never lost for thoughts. I also make a lot of jokes, often awful or innapropriate, so if you appreciate a bad joke we'll likely get on :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Anyone can save up a little money and book hotels to see parts of the world, and whilst this is nice from time to time, your money just buys you a bed. As a solo traveller I'm excited to see, stay and befriend real people who have stories, knowledge and tips about their own backyard- a couch to get a good nights sleep is just a bonus.
I hope I could in turn offer people the same of my own experiences when I stay.
Interests
-I've an extremely eclectic music taste with a particular love for Country and Blues, but by no means a connoisseur of either.
-I'm no Eric Clapton but I vaguely know my way around a Guitar and love to play and jam whenever I can.
-Unusually for a Brit, I'm a big fan of Baseball.
-Traveling, and living life to the fullest means a lot to me. Documenting it through writing, photography and film keeps me busy and very happy.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have favourite artists galore; Johnny Cash, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Paolo Nutini, Eric Church, Seasick Steve. Plenty more and far more eclectic theres a snapshot!
Movie wise, I love a good comedy. From Will Ferrell classics to indie hits like Napoleon Dynamite. Top two movies though would have to be Wall Street & Scarface. Amazing films.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Whilst this may seem mundane to some, swimming amongst Penguins in South Africa this year has been a highlight of my travel life so far.
Teach, Learn, Share
"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." - Johnny Cash
They say that one mans garbage is another mans treasure and sometimes this is true for knowledge; I know many things- largely useless, but might just have a gem for someone. And by the same measure; absorb as much as I can of what people have to say. Its great to learn new things, no matter how irrelevant they might seem at the time.
