ABOUT ME

I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, went to college in Virginia, and living in Alaska again atm. I try to push my comfort zone by meeting new people through parties and social events and by exposing myself to different cultures and viewpoints. I don't smoke but I do drink and like to stay pretty active with outdoor hobbies and extreme sports. I graduated in 2009 with degrees in Philosophy and Economics. So naturally, I enjoy a rational, open-minded discussion about politics, religion, ethics, metaphysics, pizza, etc (just about anything really).

At the end of the day, I think we all just want to be happy. The problem though is that a lot of us are mistaken about what, ultimately, makes us happy. In our consumer culture, a lot of our technological advances, albeit convenient, have ISOLATED and distracted us from getting to know the people around us. I believe that belonging to a community and becoming interdependent is one of the best ways to feel fulfilled in life. Compassion and empathy comes from getting to know other cultures and philosophies with an open mind. I'm hoping that traveling and couch surfing will help me further develop these qualities. :)

I have not couch surfed yet but I plan to attend local meet ups and host in the near future. :)

Interests

Skateboarding, snowboarding, rock climbing, martial arts, working out, electronic music aaaand beer pong! :P
I DJ some and like to make mixtapes and remixes of my favorite electronic tracks.
I also enjoy some nerdy things like browsing reddit and dressing up for anime conventions, hah.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've driven back and forth between Virginia and Alaska (approx. 4800 miles) on several occasions.
I won about a $1000 playing beer pong in bars one summer, lol.
