ABOUT ME
I recently moved into an exciting new flat with some very nice people in Montpellier. I have an adventurous and curious spirit and I'm always keen to try new things and meet new people.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
By believing wholeheartedly that whatever goes around comes around, however much energy you put in to something you will always get it back, in some form or another. Being open and adaptable. Enjoying the company of others. I have often found myself relying on the hospitality of complete strangers, and I will always be somebody who is willing to help other people.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Couchsurfing really has changed the way I travel. I spent a few months in the summer of 2009 hitch-hiking and couchsurfing around Europe and found kindness and overwhelming hospitality everywhere I went. Since then I have been on several other trips around Europe and South America, using couchsurfing wherever possible. In Edinburgh I hosted people in my flat when I could, although I received around 10-15 requests a day (hence my low reply rate- don´t be put off!)
Interests
Comedy. In all its forms. I am also very interested to see how sense of humour differs from country to country.
Music. Some of the best times of my life have been listening to live music and dancing like a madman for hours on end. I've been playing the harmonica since last december and it's coming on well, without a doubt the best instrument to travel with!
Languages. I'm always keen to improve my languages, and learning from natives is definitely the best way. I'm also very interested in linguistics, word play, idiomatic expression and etymology
Communal living. I fully believe that this is the best way to live, and can´t stand the thought of living alone. Last year I stayed in a flat with up to 12 or 13 people, with a fully functioning cooking and cleaning rota, shared vegetable garden and music/cinema room.
Cooking. I like to experiment with cooking a lot but also have a stock of tasty recipes that I cook regularly. If i'm lucky enough to stay with you I will no doubt cook you a meal!
Cycling. Simply the best way to travel. No distance is too far on a bike really, you just have to change your perspective a little!
And finally meeting people, and sharing different culture, ideas, humour and experiences... I find it is the best way to broaden your mind and develop as a person... we're in it together so lets learn from each other!
