About Me
CURRENT MISSION
More time making real connections, less on my mobile devices.
ABOUT ME
I have been riding my motorcycle around the planet for around 5 years (~3 years time on the road) covering over 200,000 kms in much of North and South America, Africa and Europe so far, and now most of Asia remains for me to discover. I work part time from the road, returning to DC for big projects, and to Europe to connect with family and friends.
PHILOSOPHY
Nobody gets out of this thing (life) alive, so better make the best of it. Change the game, don't let the game change you - unless it is for the better.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I would really like to start hosting when I am back in DC, on the road would like to connect more substantially with people and places along my travel routes. Couch surfing for me is not about being thrifty - I have the means to stay anywhere from my successful environmentally friendly business of 26 years - my quest is to meet interesting people, fresh conversations, and memorable experiences. Big cities are usually not my preference (since they tend to be the same) and I tend to avoid comodified and over-touristed places .
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Because my motorcycle travel plans have usually been ambitious in terms of timelines, I haven't done so much couch surfing on my travels - a few times with a CS friend, and it was very rewarding. I also did a short wwoof stint which was fun as well.

Music, Movies, and Books
Zen & the art of motorcycle maintenance
Music - so much so many - not sure how any simple answer/example would be representative.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Burning man stands out - 3 times. My world moto travels also have been outstanding adventures. Paradoxically, the most memorable experiences have often been when everything is broken or goes wrong - robbed and broke for weeks in Tulum, Mexico - crossing the Darien gap (Panama>Colombia) via the San Blas Islands, the Lagunas route in Bolivia (>4500 meters on awful "roads"), trying to find a bolt in Mauritania, pre-coup northern Mali, Cape MaClear in Malawi, northern Kenya into Ethiopia (destroyed roads/bandits). Bad is not always good though..
Teach, Learn, Share
I know bicycles, motorcycles and mastering small business.
