About Me

Hi there :). Nice to meet you! I have a polite but very clear request to you:

READ THE 'MY HOME ' INFO (select the blue link called 'read more' directly above this text) PLEASE BECAUSE NOBODY SEEMS TO DO THAT AND IT EXISTS FOR A REASON...

Done? Ok thank you very much :). You can read on.

I am an art historian and high school art teacher. I teach 12 to 15 year olds how to draw, paint, and create little art pieces using wood, clay and way more materials. Also I teach the higher grades, with pupils aged up to 18, art history for their theoretic exams. Hopefully one day I will also work in an art museum to use all of my BA and MA skills. Travelling for me is mainly a way to admire and study the (art) hisoric treasures of the world and also to see beautiful places and nature and to meet beautifully spirited fellow humans. At the moment, I'm still busy with exploring Europe.
Still, I try to keep exploring new countries (and regions). I am a spontanious people loving person, and I am always looking forward to making more friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to meet new people and to really get to know the places I visit. How can I better then by befriending locals?

I always try to attend the weekly CS event in my hometown Rotterdam and to sometimes go to the bigger monthly events.

Interests

As a high school art teacher and art historian I like to go to art museums a lot. Also I like to go to Arthouse movie theaters, rock-and jazz concerts and -festivals. Because I also love to dance I tried Lindyhop (20s swingdance to old jazz music ) and jive/ rock&roll (wearing a circle skirt and petticoat) but I am not very good at learning choreographies. So I stick to dancing in clubs and watching dance performances (mostly modern or classical ballet).

I like to create so I drew and painted a lot in my life. The last few years I am more into sewing (mostly cosplay type of costumes and dresses) and reupholstering vintage furniture, objects and clothes I found thrifting.

I love to read instead of watching tv. Now I am reading Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry

I also like to go out to clubs, bars, festivals, concerts and karaoke bars with friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living! Because la vie est belle !

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you English, Dutch and Art History. Also drawing. I could also bake Dutch apple pie with you. You can maybe help me exercise my French and/or Bulgarian. It's always interesting to know a few words in other languages too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good company to go out, interesting stories of Rotterdam and the Netherlands in general, making you a Dutch meal or treat and help to keep your place tidy during my stay. I can teach you about art history, sewing and drawing techniques. I'll bring you the delicious Dutch cookies: stroopwafels. Also I could teach you Dutch and maybe If you're really lucky I could bake a Dutch apple pie for/with you.
