ABOUT ME

Hey

I'm Charly, I love to write, read and listen to all sort of stories, and couchsurfing being full of them.. is one of the reasons I am active here.

About me: I am simple and I think I'm more of a quiet person but I would still actually describe myself with this fancy word "ambivert". I'm not usually the person people think I am at first sight (that's what I have often been told).

I also think i am funny too but i don't reckon everyone gets my humour ahah

I try quite hard to live in a creative & authentic way. Following my own path which I am inventing every day. Being honest and true to myself and with others. Respect my environment. Spread warmth, smiles and love. Live the present time because tomorrow doesn't exist and yesterday is a now dream.
This being said... I must admit I specified I try at the beginning of this wonderful paragraph because I can also be grumpy and people say I look cold and scary.

I like being with people and I need this to feel good, motivated and stimulated on a daily basis. I like to be on my own too a lot, but at some point I will feel the urge to be surrounded by people.

Sometimes when you meet someone there's this very special moment that can happen when a kind of particular bond appears and makes it possible to truly dialogue, share and exchange ideas with each other. I love theses moments, find them magical and inspiring. Thanks to CS, I was able to have many of these kind of experiences throughout the years .. (I've been active since nearly 10 years now!)

I am fascinated and passionate about society, education, language, philosophy, or in other words , anything that has to do with people. Meeting people from different cultures helps me understand our world.

I deeply enjoy being in the nature, especially doing sports in the nature.. hiking, climbing, skiing, sailing... Being in the outdoors is another fuel for my mind The healing power of nature is no legend to me.

I don't feel comfortable having people doing things especially for me, so if you happen to be my marvellous host you can be sure i will be a very simple person and will accommodate myself with ease to whatever you have to offer. Most possibly, I will cook something for you too. Thank you so much for the hospitality!!

After nearly a whole year of travelling around Europe, Asia and Australia, a year 1/2 of studies in Finland ( Jyväskylä), and 1/2 year of exchange in Berlin, I finally settled back into my home country Switzerland.
I have studied Special Education at Fribourg's University in Switzerland and then did a Master's degree in Educational Sciences in Finland. I am currently working for the swiss government for international cooperation in education.

So this is me :) If you reckon we have things in common and could get along.. get in touch! I currently updated my status as not hosting, but it's only because I have too many requests and too little time.. If you want to stay over and meet up, convince me that I want to meet you too!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been hosted in Europe a few times, in Paris, Milano and Finland. And a few times in Australia too.
I have met people for drinks in Paris, London, Lisbon, in Australia, Bornéo, Finland, Hamburg and in my home town.
I hosted people from quite a lot of different countries...

My experiences were always good. Some were extraordinary, some were enjoyable, some were neutral but interesting anyhow.

I have also made myself real friends with whom i'm still a lot in contact thanks to Couchsurfing.

Music is important for me. I spend hours searching the internet for new sounds. I like a lot electronic music and trip-hop, but also rock, Indie, world music, chanson française.. I'm not a fan of rap, r&b, but sometimes do appreciate it depending on the artist.

I like to watch movies but I'm more addicted to books. The movie that had the most impact on me is this child movie "The Little Princess".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The few things that pop up in my head as being the most amazing so far in my amazing life would be ..

.. visiting Indian tribes in Venezuela as a teenager

.. jumping from a plane for my 18th birthday

.. sailing around the Atlantic and being a skipper at a very young age

.. solo-travelling on my own obviously but with so many people at the same time

.. diving with manta rays in Bali ...

.. three-day trek to climb Mt. Rinjani, Lombok's famous vulcano

.. "surviving" an earthquake in Northern Thailand

.. being mesmerized by a dancing sky in Finland (Northern Lights)

.. sailing from Norway to Spitzbergen across the Barents Sea
