Overview
About Me
Disillusioned but hopeful American with a flair for storytelling. Likes language learning, karaoke, dogs, books, maple syrup, soft smelly cheese. Dislikes humblebragging, debating, papaya, and anecdotal opinions. I believe that it's important to ask each other who we are before we ask what we do.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My boyfriend and I live in an incredible DC neighborhood, and want to share the wealth with others. We would love to meet some interesting folks and show them around town, cook a nice meal, etc.
Interests
Meeting people from all walks of life.
I'm very interested in East Africa and Europe, having lived in both. I'm hoping, however, that my next adventures take me to Latin America (following vast improvements to my Spanish) or Southeast Asia. There is a special spot in my heart for Quebec, as well-- French Canadians, come one, come all.
Professionally and personally, I'm passionate about the potential for companies (large and small) to facilitate social change and improve community and environmental conditions.
Please also know that I feel strongly about social justice for women, racial and religious minorities, the LGBT+ community, indigenous and other oppressed people. I understand that not all couchsurfers share these views, but I ask that everyone is sensitive and respectful with regard to these topics.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm musically inclined, so anyone who wants to share music or jam is most welcome.
Some recent reads --Among the Thugs, L'Elégance du Hérisson, Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight (probably my favorite), The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once hula hooped for nearly eight hours without stopping.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A listening ear. Maple syrup. Tips on what's hot and not in DC.
