About Me

CURRENT MISSION

move to San Francisco!

ABOUT ME

Once I bought a box of colored chalk and used it to write the word "Why?" everywhere I went.

If people asked themselves "Why?" more often, the world would be a better place.

I like to read books, wander around in the woods daydreaming, and pick my own fruits and vegetables.

PHILOSOPHY

"Make your own meaning, because the universe certainly isn't going to supply it." -- Lois Bujold

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to live in Ant Hill Cooperative, where we hosted lots of couch-surfers, someone every couple of weeks or so. I really enjoyed meeting all the interesting travelers and showing them my housing co-op. I wasn't the person who organized the visits, but I would cook for them and get them settled.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been a couchsurfer host many times, but I have never actually surfed myself.

Interests

All things nerdy, books, environmentalism, tasty tasty Asian food. And pie.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some favorite authors: C.S. Lewis, Rosemary Kirstein, Madeline L'Engle, Robin McKinley, Lois Bujold, Sylvia Engdahl, Robert Heinlein, Billy Collins.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. Going on a Whale Watch sailing trip with the Boston Aquarium, and seeing two finback whales.
2. Eating a mango in Senegal. Tropical mangoes are to our pitiful northern hemisphere mangoes as water is to wine.
3. Canoeing in the Boundary Waters National Park, stopping at Rainbow Island to eat wild blueberries and watch the sun set over the mirror-like water and the clusters of islets.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like foreign languages. I can teach drawing.
