ABOUT ME

I guess others would describe me as enthousiastic, down-to-earth, active and open-minded person.
I know it's not very original on CS, but my biggest passion is travelling and discovering the world by meeting new people and exploring new places :) I love to take up new challenges and I hope to share and exchange my knowledge and culture with as many people as possible.

I was born in Rotterdam, and lived in Valencia and Aarhus for while. As from September, I will start my Masters degree in Amsterdam, but I will keep on living in Utrecht. Why? Because the Netherlands has better and more beautiful cities than Amsterdam (and no worries, smoking is 'legalized' in the whole country..) so come and discover yourself! ;-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to exchange thoughts and opinions. While hosting and surfing, I will share my Dutch background and international experiences and hope to learn a lot from others!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I signed up a while a go, but just recently started to use my profile. Since I am relatively new on CS, I hope to gain a lot of amazing CS-experiences!

I am sure CS is a fantastic way travel 'consciously', as I try to be aware of the local issues and habits while moving around. It is already addicting :)

Interests

Apart from travelling I love doing all kinds of sports (running, snowboarding), and in particular soccer/ football! I love to play it myself and watch my favorite team Feyenoord whenever I can afford a ticket ;-)
Furthermore, I like to spend time with friends and family, party now and then, plan new travels, discuss political and current issues and read books.
I am interested in history and international topics. I am very concerned with social injustice in the world and I do a lot of volunary work at for example the Red Cross and other international organizations.

Music, Movies, and Books

I do not watch many movies, although I really liked the movies Once Upon A Time in the West, Blood Diamond and Into the Wild.
I like all kinds of music, from techno to pop.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two months of travelling and an internship in Israel, Palestine and Jordan, including riding a camel and sleeping in the desert, eating iftar with Palestinian families and meeting settlers.
Exploring Scandinavia, dogsledding and watching the Northern Lights, dancing Finnish folklore dance during Midsummernight.
Living in a family in South-Africa, washing myself with a just a small bucket of water every morning and be wakened up by the smile of kids playing with a flat football.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can always discuss politics and international issues about conflicts, but I love superficial talks about football as well ;-)

I would love to learn more about cooking, music and your culture.
