Chi sono
CURRENT MISSION
To see as much of the world as I can
ABOUT ME
Grew up in Canada, traveled around it a fair bit as a kid. Once I graduated high school I started travelling a lot more seriously. While I was in university I did a year long exchange in England, and had the opportunity to see a lot of Europe. From 2012-2013 I spent a year in New Zealand working as an au pair. I worked in Korea as a high school English teacher from 2014-2015, and as an elementary school English teacher from 2015-2016. I love to travel, and I'm very independent.
In 2016 I traveled for about 6 months after I left Korea. I went through a lot of Asia, and came back to Canada by way of Europe.
After that I moved to Edmonton to get my B.Ed, and now I'm an elementary school teacher!
PHILOSOPHY
I am always trying to push myself to be braver and step out of my shell. And I've gotten pretty adventurous now!
In August 2013 I tried skydiving and (much to my surprise) I really enjoyed it! I would love to try it again some time!
Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm hoping to crash a few couches while I'm travelling the world, and to return the favour to a few like-minded travellers at some point. I'm also up for any other meetings/get-togethers that fit into my schedule! They're always good fun!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Surfing has been a great way to meet awesome people and stay with friends as opposed to staying in a hostel. It offers a chance to see the area through the eyes of a local, and it is great to add some interest to your journey, especially if you're travelling by yourself (which I usually am)!
I've only hosted 2 people so far, but I was lucky enough to have great experiences both times!
I've met so many different kinds of people, young and old from all different walks of life. So many interesting stories to share and conversations to have. I am so thankful to have met so many wonderful, generous people through couchsurfing!
Interessi
I like creative pursuits: photography, drawing, sewing, knitting, crocheting, just about anything. I also really enjoy travelling, seeing new places and trying new things.
Musica, film e libri
This is a hard section for me to fill out.
Music - I don't really listen to music a lot. If I bother putting it on, it's usually just in the background. But I'm not too picky, and I found out in Korea that I actually really like karaoke.
Movies - I tend to watch TV more than movies, and I will watch just about anything. Reality TV of all kinds is a guilty pleasure of mine.
Books - I love YA fiction. Novels written for 9-12 year olds are totally my jam. I read over 400 children's books in 2019.
Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
1. Fjord tour in Norway.
2. Watching The Sound of Music while in Salzburg.
3. Teaching English at a school in the Dominican Republic.
Insegna, impara, condividi
Everyone you will ever meet knows something that you don't, so think of every conversation as a learning opportunity.
Cosa posso offrire ai padroni di casa
I usually share my famous brownie recipe. And if you're lucky, I might still have a Canadian flag pin up my sleeve (while supplies last).
