Hellou fellow being :)
I'm Charly, 29 years old, living in Cologne and an open-minded person, who loves connecting with humans and nature. I like speaking foreign languages, experiencing different cultures, exploring new places, but all whilst keeping my CO2 footprint as low as possible. I value slowness (or mindfulness?), empathy, tolerance, honesty. I like singing, playing the piano and ukulele, going on a hike, strolling around by bike, watching movies, doing yoga and meditate.

btw: I'm 3 times vaccinated :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only started using it recently, because tbh I was always a little bit scared that I wouldn't feel comfortable. But I totally fell in love with it while travelling through Eastern Europe this spring: picking Garlic in the Prater, going on a concert in the mountain of Ljubliana, discovering the best Ice Cream in Venice (and even getting it for free :D), it's really sooo much better than doing a 08/15 vacation with everything planned. And so far I've not only discovered new exciting places, activities and people but also a lot about myself that I didn't know before. My trip also taught me to become a little bit more flexible and that it's really important to comunicate openly with people. Thanks for that CS :)

Interessen

I'm a truly nature addict. I like to take long walks whilst picking up trash and watching birds (I’m also an ornithology geek, especially raptors :D). I love all kinds of hearing/ making music. I play piano, guitar and Ukulele, sing in a Pop Choir and recently I finally got the band back together (who gets this film reference? ;)). Also waste reduction and food saving are very important parts of my life, as I'm doing a lot of food sharing and doing volontary work in a store, that sells food that would otherwise be thrown away (check us out: https://www.the-good-food.de/ <3). I'm quite a DIY geek, always trying not to buy new stuff, but use the ressources that are already there and create sth cool out of it :) I also started a bee-keeper course recently, because I'm fascinated by those cute little creatures. Also I love honey, lavender and above all lavender honey. So one of my dreams is to live in the south of France someday and make my own lavender honey. Although it's probably too hot there for me, but let's see :D

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I’m mostly into Indie and Oldschool Rock (if I had to choose to hear one band for the rest of my life it’ll totally be the Beatles. They were also my current hair style inspo :D), Tarantino, old movies (Hitchcock and Agatha Christie above all) and Scandinavian thrillers (but I read all kind of stuff, I’ve always had the impression that the book chooses the reader and not the opposite ;) favorite book so far would be Siddartha though)

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Travelling to Mexico and Cuba in 2016. Almost having a nervous breakdown at the airport in Cancún 1h before my flight, when first one credit card got stolen and then the other one didnt work and I only had enough cash to get the tourist visa. Calling my credit card company and hearing that they're sending emergency cards to every country in the world BUT Cuba.
Fortunately I met a girl, standing behind me in line, offering me to lend me the money. We then spent the next 3 weeks together with her cuban friend travelling around the country, riding horses in vinales, drinking mojitos at the cayo guillermo, attending a cuban family party... wouldn't have made this experience if everything had gone according to plan :)

Empathy, hugs, laughter, cooking and baking skillz, a private concert (I sing and play piano, guitar and ukulele), funny new vocabulary (studied translation and am kind of a grammar nerd), ...
