About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Be reckless.

ABOUT ME

I'm a junior at a tiny hippie commune/liberal arts college in the blue ridge mountains near Asheville, NC. I'm studying anthropology and sociology. I'm extremely interested in the way individuals are both shaped by and shape their cultures, and the ways their cultures are shaped by their environments and global contexts. anth/soc generally makes me nerd out pretty hard and I want to eventually pursue my doctorate and become one of those eccentric, excitable college professor types.

I'm an INFJ. I like to sing and write music. Current obsession is Supernatural. I do some urbex when I find people to explore with me.

I've spent some time in East and West Africa, and I'm hoping to travel to Indonesia this summer. I'm considering teaching in Japan for a while after I graduate.

PHILOSOPHY

Find a problem that frustrates you and become the solution.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with Raine in Portland in the summer of 2012 and had a really beautiful experience! I haven't had the chance to couchsurf since then, but I'm planning on it.

Interests

Good books, writing a lot, piano, singing, music theory, hiking and camping, identifying trees, cooking healthy simple food, volunteerism and service, walking everywhere, running, getting lost, smoking hookah, all good times.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rode on the back of a motorbike through the Tanzanian countryside in the rain. Collected starfish in Kenya. Rode on a dhow to a sand island that disappears when the tide comes in.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm fairly good at Swahili, the language of much of East Africa. I can identify a lot of Pennsylvania's trees and invasive plants. I know a fair bit about music theory, although I'm only okay on piano. I make really good french fries.

Countries I’ve Visited

Haiti, Kenya

Countries I’ve Lived In
