I'm a massage therapist of over 20 years with 6 years of Burning Man under my belt. I love to travel which is what brought me to the Big Island on vacation about 3 years ago. In April of 2014, I subsequently moved there after nearly 10 years living in Reno, Nv. As a single serial monogamist, I am happy to make friends in a world seemingly solely populated with the commitment phobic.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm looking at life in various parts of the Maui while at the same time establishing myself in my professional field. It is my hope to interact with more locals, get a sense of the many flavors of this Island, and find which corner I want to call home.

Interests

I'm a big fan of films, stage work, & music. I had a small part in a micro-budget flick shot entirely in Reno, Nv. There are a couple of plays and some group improv in my past, and if you give me a large enough sack, I can carry a tune for ya. No small portion of the enjoyment I get for watching films, plays, & live music comes from the fact that I have just enough experience/talent to know how difficult those things are to pull off at all, let alone do well.

I love hiking in the outdoors (Yay Hawaii!) and long talks with a few, select friends. I enjoy cooking, especially for/with others & have a variety of tastes, mostly in the ethnic end of things (sadly, I must admit, my tastes far exceed my ability to recreate them).

I am, intermittently, an avid reader. This is dependent on the quality I find & access to proper lighting after sundown.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
my tastes tend towards the funk end of rock, and vice versa, but anything with interesting lyrics & a non 4-4 beat can catch my ear.

Favorite Movies & Films:
I tend towards thinking comedies, such as those by Wes Anderson, and scifi, such as The Martian, Serenity, and the latest Star Wars (LOVED IT!) I enjoy dynamic romances, such as Love Actually & Amelie. Also, I'm not afraid of subtitles.

Books;
The Signature of All Things & Seveneves have captured my imagination the most in the last year. Douglas Adams's Hitchhiker's Guild series & most anything by David Sedaris will always make me smile BIG at the mere mention.
