Overview
About Me
My name is Chase, I'm from a small town in California called Chico. I am a easy going fun person with a good sense of humor. I like to relax and generally enjoy each day as best as I can with a smile on my face. I enjoy my life and want to meet new people because I feel it helps me grow and enhances my life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing really interested me because of all the stories my friends have told me of meeting amazing people all around the world and how many of them are still in contact with each other months and years after meeting. I travel to meet people and talk with them and when I travel in hostels I tend to meet people from outside the actual country I'm in, so Couchsurfing seems like the best way for me to really see a country as its people see it.
Interests
I am interested in travel, I've journeyed through central America and Europe and enjoyed all the people I've met. I traveled using mostly hostels and occasionally staying with friend that I had met while traveling or who have come to California. During my most recent travels a friend told me about the concept of couch surfing and i really loved the idea, a community of people offering an exchange of culture, a place to stay, friendship and experiences from around the world. I look forward to hosting people when i return to California and showing them around my home town. My interests include but aren't limited to activities out in nature, sports, meeting other fun people, I love to travel, camping, and generally exploring.
Music, Movies, and Books
My musical taste is pretty wide but one of my favorite bands is Sublime. My favorite book is American God's by Neil Gaiman and one of my favorite movies is Into the Wild.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
While my friend and I were going to Croatia from Bosnia, we were hitch hiking and had 3 amazing people pick us up. The first guy was in tourism but after talking with him for awhile offered his place for us to stay if we came back to Bosnia and would have taken us all the way to Split, Croatia if he didn't have to work. The second guy hardly spoke english, but we still talked the whole way, he worked in a vineyard and was really nice, after dropping us off he drove a little ways off and reversed and came back to give us a bottle of Raki (Balkan moonshine) and tell us safe travels. The 3rd guy drove us all the way to the border well past his house that we had passed, he took us there because he wanted to see us safely off to Croatia. We asked for a ride and all three of these men gave us a little bit of their time, a smile and an exchange of stories...along with a ride and I will never forget that day. It showed me just how amazing we are when you forget what media tell you about who to be afraid of and open yourself up to a chance encounter.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am hoping to share stories with the people I meet, it's my favorite way to learn about a culture and a country. I like cooking, I have a few dishes that I can cook really well, but I'm also a really good dishwasher, so sharing meals is always fun. I am a native English speaker so if you are looking to practice English I am always willing to help, plus having learned Spanish outside of school I find I can usually talk and express myself in a way that can be understood. My experiences are fairly wide and creative, and I find that through talking and meeting with people that I can find a way to make myself useful
What I Can Share with Hosts
I offer my respect, it's not easy to open your house up to a stranger. I will be an enjoyable guest, offering you my friendship. I will be neat and cleanly and as helpful as possible. I will greet you with a smile and say goodbye with one too. I look forward to meeting you.
