About Me

I'm a college student from the States. Studied abroad in Leeds, UK and traveled all over Europe and even Morocco.
Love to travel, and get to know people. I'm genuinely curious about anything and everything, so I NEVER hesitate to ask questions. To me that's the true beauty of the human race; if we want to know something, all it takes is something as simple as a question to start a quest toward finding the answer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Local people are genuinely the best part to any trip in my book, and this idea of couch surfing seems like the ultimate way to enjoy so many different cultures.

Growing up in rural Wisconsin, I have never had the chance to leave the States until I travelled abroad in Leeds. I have seen a fair portion of the US, but I desperately want to spend the rest of my life exploring the whole world! I especially want to see the unseen, relatively unknown parts of the world! Paths, by definition, are there because they have been traveled so often the landscape has been changed. "Off the beaten path" couldn't be a more perfect ideal for how I want to travel. Granted there are many common places I would like to see; there is clearly a reason why they are so popular, but to me it is how you experience it that makes the difference.

Couch Surfing seems to be one perfect reaction to that idea. It would allow me to get to know locals and experience new cultures on an entirely new level. To me, getting to know a culture is more important that seeing a statue or visiting a museum. If those things help, then put me in line for admittance, but I don't believe for one second that those are all of the experiences a culture has to offer. It's the wonderful people that make up a culture, not their stuff.

Interests

Im an architecture nerd, genuinely interested in most any style. There is just something about the call to a far time that cannot be explained.

I am also a big fan of traveling! Growing up in rural Wisconsin, I have never had the chance to leave the States until I travelled abroad in Leeds this semester.

Being interested in travel and architecture, I have found a huge fascination in anything and everything Dubai, UAE. I even took a semester of Arabic to be able to understand more of the culture and to be able to study abroad there. Those plans fell through but I am still bound and determined to visit and see everything I can! What they have done there truly is marvelous and the culture and people are beautiful. I NEED to visit sometime soon hahaha

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite anything changes daily! I'm so interested in so many types of things it's hard for me to pin down just one thing in each category. Simply asking my favorite food comes up with about a million different answers in my head, and to me comparing them is like apples and oranges.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I have done to date is take a leap of faith and take a semester abroad in Leeds, United Kingdom. I know it might not seem like a huge culture shock or a large difference from the States, but it symbolizes a lot more to me; It's step one on my journey to see the world!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm definitely in the "Learn" portion of my life. I am trying to absorb any and all great memories, experiences, bits of wisdom, etc that I can. Although, I am definitely more than willing to share my previous experiences and truths with people along the way if they are willing to listen!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Traditional country cooking from Wisconsin farms, knowledge about engineering things, a lot of fun stories, and a good laugh! Laughter is universal and it connects all people. Good company and a fun time makes for the best experiences in my book.
