About Me

Ciao! Sooo. Here I am I find myself updating my profile after 5 long years. So much as changed since the last time I filled up this 'about me' section of my profile. So there you so, here's a few things you should know about me:

Where I'm from and where I've lived:
I was born and raised in sunny Sicily, Italy. I studied Arabic and English in college and moved to London, UK soon after I graduated. London will always have a big piece of my heart because it's the place that's made me feel the most happy, sad, inspired, lonely, ALIVE that I've ever experienced in my life. I lived there for 2 years before meeting my American husband and moving back home to be with him for the next 2 years. We've currently been living in San Antonio, Texas for 1 year and I finally got around to updating my profile on here with the hope of meeting some interesting local people and make some new friends!!

What I'm currently doing with my life: I'm currently working in retail but I'm hoping to be able to go back to school soon and study psychology in order to became a therapist.

How I'm spending my days at the moment: at work, watching Netflix, reading the latest book from my Book of the Month subscription, drinking wine on our balcony while listening to Frank Turner, listening to too many podcasts to count (This American Life is my favorite), decorating our new apartment, taking walk along the river.

Favourite drink: Coffee with hazelnut syrup. And rosé wine. And green smoothies (with loads of peanut butter to cover that "grassy" taste!)

Favorite places: dark theatres, hot showers, London, airports, ferry boats, comfy beds, trains, museums when they're empty, bookshops, HomeGoods, and wherever my niece is.

A few languages I speak: Italian, English and some Spanish and French.

Religious views: I believe in Sherlock Holmes.

Favourite movie: I LOVE going the movies, especially now that I've discovered the Alamo Drafthouse. Can't go wrong with a good movie and a huge serving of garlic fries. You can take a look at my rating history on IMDB if you like: http://www.imdb.com/user/ur31302695/ratings?start=1&view=detail&sort=your_ratings:desc&scb=0.7701165641192347

How I feed myself: I've been a vegetarian for about 7 years now I don't think I could ever go back to eating meat. A book I've read and I think you should read too is: http://www.amazon.com/Eating-Animals-Jonathan-Safran-Foer/dp/0316069906

One person I wish I knew in real life: Jenna Marbles, who else?!?! http://youtu.be/1IZR0VpLCeE

Bands I've seen live: Arcade Fire, Deep Purple, Interpol, Bonny 'Prince' Billy, Florence & the Machine, U2.

Favourite TV series: Six Feet Under is my absolute favourite. You should watch it, it changed me somehow and thought me how no matter what we do "Everything, everyone, everywhere, ends". I also like: Stranger Things, Sherlock, the OA, Mindhunters, Pretty Little Liars, How to get away with murder....

PHILOSOPHY

"Then you begin to give up the very idea of belonging. Suddenly this thing, this belonging,it seems like some long, dirty lie ... and I begin to believe that birthplaces are accidents, that everything is an accident. But if you believe that, where do you go? What do you do? What does anything matter?"
Zadie Smith

'As a woman I have no country. As a woman my country is the whole world.' - Virginia Woolf

'Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid' - Albert Einstein
