Hello! My name is Chassety, I am 26 from Houston, Texas in the USA!

My love for travel began in 2019 when I studied abroad in Argentina, Spain, and Italy 🇦🇷🇪🇸🇮🇹 I recently graduated with my Masters in Natural Resource Management and decided to travel during a gap year postgrad! I backpacked across Europe & SE Asia & recently completed the Camino de Santiago on the France route!

I love watching and playing sports :) I grew up playing several sports, but my favorite is softball 🥎 (it’s similar to baseball). I played softball for 15 years and played it in University. I also love animals and have two dogs and a cat at home, so always happy to stay somewhere that has animals! I also recently got my OW certification 🥳 and am looking forward to diving in different places as I travel! 🪸

I am a native English speaker and am learning Spanish. My mom is from Mexico 🇲🇽 and I am currently conversational in Spanish, but am always excited to practice! I think Languages are super interesting and always try to learn a little bit from each country I visit! I love connecting with others by learning a little bit of their language 🫶🏼 always open to learning some words in your language!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couch surfing was recommended to me by one of my blabla car drivers and it sounded like it would be a great way to meet people while I’m traveling! One of my favorite things about traveling is getting to learn about other cultures around the world, and Couchsurfing is a great way to experience other cultures and make connections with people!

Interests

Some of my top interests would be thrifting, sports and food!

I’m passionate about thrifting and love finding unique clothing thats one of a kind. I love when I can piece together a fully thrifted outfit! I think thrifting is great because I reduce my contribution to fast fashion, thus helping to reduce my carbon footprint.

I grew up playing a diversity of sports and enjoying watching them! I enjoy going to sporting events and watching / playing different sports!

I also enjoy trying different foods and trying new recipes! While traveling I have enjoyed trying foods from around the world! One of my favorite things to do when I’m in a new country is to look through the chips isle and see the different flavors!

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy Indie/Pop :) I like different genres, and listening to new music that people share with me. I can also play the flute and oboe and enjoy listening to classical music :)

My preferred movie genre is action (love Marvel!) or romcoms :) I don’t really enjoy watching horror, but can do some thrillers

I haven’t been big into reading much lately, but am always open to recommendations :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hard to pick just one! But some of my top favorites are the Camino, the Ha Giang Loop, Paragliding & being caught in a thunderstorm on the Amalfi Coast, and learning to riding a motorbike in SE Asia :) 🛵🪂

I would really love to learn about other people’s cultures from the way of life, different beliefs, food, etc.! There is always so much to learn and I want to learn about the places I’m visiting.

I also really enjoy getting sharing travel stories and hearing about what other people have learned along their journeys!
