About Me
CURRENT MISSION
We are coming to Iceland! It's our first time on CouchSurfing and we would love to make friends and learn everything we can about the country and culture.
ABOUT ME
We are currently living together in Denver in a big house with four friends and a loud-mouthed kitty. We spend lots of nights at home with the roomies, and whoever else drops by, cooking dinner, cracking each other up, making up dance routines, and playing speed scrabble or chess. We have a record player, an awesome porch and no TV. We have joked about turning our house into a bed and breakfast because friends stay over so often.
All our recent travel experiences have been music tours with Tyler's band Princess Music, or Genny's band Paper Bird.
We love music of all kinds, traveling, and having experiences outside of what we've known in the USA.
PHILOSOPHY
(Tyler) The people you know is what makes life worth living indeed. Music, art, coffee, and language are a few things that i have fallen into that i feel connect me to others in a very special way. Travel ties them all together for me.
(Genny) "Doing ordinary things with extraordinary amounts of love." I love philosophy for it's own sake and cannot help being curious about religion and myth, but in the end life is the greatest teacher and actions louder than words.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
As touring musicians, hospitality is central to our everyday life. We have been taken in by so many kind people and love to return the favor to old and new friends. We have a few contacts in Iceland but we are planning to stay primarily in hostels, and with new friends. When we return in April, we are so excited to open our home to those looking to visit beautiful Colorado.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
NONE. Already we are amazed at the possibilities and the people involved.
Interests
(Genny speaking) Since I have known him, Tyler has been fascinated with Iceland. He has been teaching himself the language, studying maps of places, regaling me with tales of five-gaited Icelandic horses. He has an "Island" shirt. It is infectious. Shortly after Tyler and I fell in love, Iceland started popping up in unexpected places in my life; in flight magazines, a book I read about dreams, ski resort photos... We realized we had to go.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
(tyler) Close to a year ago now we went to Montreal, Quebec together. We ascended the "royal mount" at the center of the island to turn and see the entire city before us. it was such a beautiful place to be. It was the first time i recall feeling like the only thing more important than the place, was the person i was with... being somewhere you don't know with someone you love is life's catalyst.
(genny) I don't even remember what state I was in, but my band camped at a site with a huge lake and forest. By the water was a giant dead tree completely covered in birds. I floated on my back and watched all of them circling above me, taking off, returning. I could lift my head out of the water and hear all of them or cover my ears and watch them move.
I also made a necklace out of juniper beads in Arizona. Traveling slows you down.
Teach, Learn, Share
Between the two of us we know a lot of songs, and a little bit about, yoga, coffee, food, and fashion! just kidding on the fashion thing... for tyler at least. Tyler's been learning Icelandic and we would both love to learn more. Neither of us own a camera, but we're borrowing one for the trip. We would love some tips on how to take decent photos.
