counch surfing used to be call crash pads during the Keroack/hippie era. I went from Seattle,Wa to Rochester,NY via Mexico DF in 1970. Took my 3yo daughter from Seattle to LA in '71. Jamaica, Costa Rica, Grand Caymans, Puerto Rico, and Mexico being the most freq places
