ABOUT ME

Eclectic tastes in all things artistic. I have been practising yoga for 10 years or so and have been particularly interested in Ashtanga for about 8 years. I am now a qualified advanced BWY teacher and I regularly teach several styles of yoga at a local yoga centre and various other health and fitness centres.

My friends seem to think me considerate, conscientious, calm. Certainly I try to be that way. In my 40s but most people think I'm around 35.

I work for myself in real estate and recently started my first new build project in Yorkshire. I previously worked as a professional actor before deciding it was about time to make a living. I practise yoga most days and decided to make it a more important part of my life. Teaching is proving to be something that I not only enjoy, but I am also reasonably good at it! Although I still have a great deal to learn. I also have a serious hobby, songwriting, and I'm working on tracks for an album of my music.

PHILOSOPHY

Do as you would be done by. Strive to live for now, with an all-embracing, non-egocentric view of life and the world. There is more than just this..........

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Knaresborough is close to York and so people who come to Yorkshire tend to overlook this beautiful little town. But Knaresborough is a beautiful historic town, and so conveniently placed for reaching the rest of Yorkshire (including York, Harrogate and Leeds), and the station is only 2 mins away from me!! I have had several visitors from the US and Italy. I'd like to encourage more.

Earlier this year I attended an Ashtanga Yoga course in Bologna and was able to stay with Gaia, who stayed with me last year. Bologna is a beautiful city and I would very much like to visit again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Most couch surfers tend to head for York, or other larger cities, so I don't get as many guests as I would like. Knaresborough is a great historic town on the main trainline and is perfectly placed for getting around - so please come try it out!

I one guest last year. Previous to that Gaia and Stefano came from Bologna, Italy. Their visit was a real pleasure. The year after I stayed with Gaia whilst I attended a yoga course in Bologna.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: anything in an language from any era, apart from modern horror. Hitchcock is enough blood and gore for me....

Music: classical, jazz, rock/pop. Anything from Beethoven to Schoenberg, James Blunt to Pink Floyd, Alanis Morisette to ABBA, Billie Holliday to Fats Domino.

Books: classics - Hugo, Dostoyevsky, Bulgakov, Zola. Paulo Coelho, Eckhart Tolle, various other modern spiritual types. Don't read as much as I would like these days.
