ABOUT ME

Spending my summer abroad before my senior year in college....travels include Iceland, France, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, and Italy. I am staying with a friend from school in Iceland, and then we are traveling to visit grad schools and explore cities in a few countries. After that, I have an internship in Florence, Italy for 2 months.

I love learning about countries' history, cutlure, language, and cuisine...enjoy meeting new people and making connections around the world. Interested in the music, art, craft and design worlds...also love old blurry photographs that captured a moment in someone else's life. I don't like to throw things away...become very attached to objects and think I may have a use for things in the future. Find it helpful to write notes to myself on my hand. The perfectionist inside me gets the better of me sometimes.

PHILOSOPHY

i am learning new things everyday that either reshape, reaffirm, or discount my previous thoughts about life. it is an interesting journey. always keeping my senses open to be delighted by the world.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently traveling with a friend and looking for couches to sleep on in Europe in late July...excited to meet new people! I am able to meet visitors for a nice cup of tea in Cincinnati when I am home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

First, I visited my friend, Andrea, in Iceland...very fun to couch surf in Reykjavik and meet new Icelandic friends! We both stayed with a friend in Paris after Iceland. We then had our first official couch surfing experience in Antwerp. Very fun! We have stayed with three great people in Prague and now we go our separate ways...I am now looking for a couch just for myself in Milan and Como areas of Italy.

movies --- historical fiction types with amazing costumes, Amelie, Jane Austen books on film, Summer Magic, fun ones --- not horror ones, movies that make one ponder life and perhaps cry a little.
music --- getting into some Icelandic treats, folk, jazz, classical piano and guitar, indie, Celtic, Gregorian chants, Native American flute, many groups from 60s and 70s such as Moody Blues, Beatles, Beegees, Simon and Garfunkel...
books --- currently reading a compilation of Icelandic folk and fairy tales and Sexing La Mode: Gender, Fashion, and Commercial Culture in Old Regime France; like Harry Potter (of course), art history books, design and photography books, cookbooks.

traveled around the countryside in Iceland...interacted with waterfalls, sat in caves by the ocean, and saw the largest glacier in europe. was astonished at the beauty and diversity in the landscapes along the journey.
