About Me

I'm a spontaneous girl partial to sunny dispositions, dark bars, curiosity, exceptional sushi, and wandering aimlessly with my camera. Will happily sit in a good cafe for hours and on the street to pet any dog I encounter. Incurable night owl.

I spent most of 2017 and 2018 solo-tripping through Europe – meaning I developed a love/hate relationship with my backpack, amassed a formidable collection of useless SIM cards, and cultivated a deep appreciation for really good showers.

Let's be friends!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to travel alone, and the weird/wonderful world of Couchsurfing is a great way to meet interesting people along the way! Plus, I love it when my friends and family tell me I'm insane.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is going to be a jam-packed section.

I LOVE music – I grew up in a house where Prince was often blaring through the living room speakers while Dad made dinner, and I try to catch live shows as often as possible. Some songs I can listen to over and over: To Wish Impossible Things by The Cure, Like a Drug by Queens of the Stone Age, Still by The Japanese House (I'm a sucker for sad indie), Even the Losers by Tom Petty, Harvest Moon by Neil Young, Lola by The Kinks. Anything by Father John Misty, The Beatles, Queens of the Stone Age, Adrianne Lenker, Big Thief, The Rolling Stones, Eagles of Death Metal, Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus. Also enjoy Kanye, New Order, Alex Cameron, Lucinda Williams, Angel Olsen, Joy Division, Maria Callas, Yo La Tengo, Godowsky, Odunsi (The Engine), Chromatics, Blondie, The XX, Nonso Amadi, Daughter, EXES, Sam Cooke, RY X, Angus and Julia Stone, Talking Heads, Silver Jews, Arctic Monkeys, The Smiths, The National, the Drake songs no drunken human can resist. When I find a new song I like, I tend to beat it to death...but don't worry, I use earbuds!

I watch The Graduate about once a year, and find it always depresses me in a different way. I love a good horror film and will worship you in exchange for a solid recommendation! Some favorites include The Lighthouse, The Witch (Robert Eggers is my HERO), The Shining, Lord of the Rings, Repulsion, Anchorman, Rosemary's Baby, Dune (2021), The Jerk, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Pan's Labyrinth, MANDY, Pulp Fiction, Blade Runner 2049, After Hours, Suspiria (1977), Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Edward Scissorhands, Grey Gardens (1975), Images (1972). I'm dying to see On The Silver Globe, but who knows if I'll ever track it down. Woody Allen movies have a special place in my heart, especially Annie Hall, Midnight in Paris and Manhattan. The Sopranos, Succession, The Wire (that fourth season, man), Carnivale, The Young Pope + The New Pope, Sharp Objects, Sex and the City, The Office, anything narrated by David Attenborough, Always Sunny in Philadelphia. David Lynch = always a surreal treat. If I'm feeling like a total girl, I'll be watching Kissing Jessica Stein or When Harry Met Sally for the hundredth time.

Go-to authors: Ernest Hemingway, Tolstoy, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Bret Easton Ellis, David Sedaris. Reading Anna Karenina for the first time was a life-altering experience. Currently reading: Middlemarch. Recently read: My Year of Rest and Relaxation, The Virgin Suicides, Ham on Rye, Crime and Punishment, In Cold Blood, The Great Gatsby (so much better than when I was 16), The Bell Jar (great but somehow not better than when I was 16), Glamorama by Bret Easton Ellis, The Road by Cormac McCarthy, In Love by Alfred Hayes, Post Office by Charles Bukowski, A Moveable Feast (again), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stayed awake for 53 hours straight wandering the wintry streets of Berlin and never once considered selling my body for a warm bed.*

*Maybe once.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to cook and sing and my vocabulary boasts a wide array of American curse words.

...I definitely don't know how to do anything useful, so if you do please teach me your ways.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm happy to share anything I can! Preferably food, alcohol, and hysterical laughter.
