Über mich
Born and raised near Portland, Oregon, my love of travel started through spending summers camping and travelling throughout the US and Canada as a child and teenager. In my late teens, I started travelling internationally and I never looked back! I studied International Studies in college and did a couple of overseas internships, moving to Bahrain when I graduated, an undiscovered gem that I fell in love with! However, after 4 years, I took a career opportunity in Abu Dhabi, where I have been for a year and half.
Abu Dhabi, while not all bad, hasn't exactly been my cup of tea, but being in such an atmosphere has finally pushed me to do something I've wanted to do for quite some time - take some time off and travel long term! I'm headed to Africa, a continent that I fell in love with from the first time I visited and can't wait to explore more of. My plan is to start with Ethiopia and go onwards from there!
So, aside from my love of travel, I am a pretty laid back person who will try just about anything once. My other passion in life is horses; I have ridden since I was 6 and am currently working on pursuing my goal of riding in every country in the world (so far I'm at 19, so quite a way to go...)!
Aside from that, I love meeting new people, good conversation, literature and poetry, pretty much anything involving nature, and bonus points for an adrenaline rush ;) however, I'm just as comfortable in a busy city and love a good night out dancing, and love trying new restaurants and foods. I'm an animal person and so anything involving animals keeps me happy :)
As far as work goes, my career has been in media and marketing, and now I work remotely part time doing marketing for a real estate development firm. I also work as a freelance business journalist and have my own small business doing web development.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
Since I am travelling solo, I think that couchsurfing is a great way to meet people and to get to know a place beyond the tourist attractions, which is always the best part of travel for me :)
Whenever I head back home, or maybe decide where my new home will be, I will definitely want to host, but cannot now as I am currently travelling.

Musik, Filme und Bücher
I like a pretty wide variety of music based on my mood. I'm a total reading nerd and can't live without my books. My all time favorite is East of Eden. I'm currently reading Shadow of the Sun (for the 6th time - can't get enough of it!)
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
It's not really one thing, but my favorite thing about my life is that whenever I've wanted to do something or accomplish, I've always just gone for it and done it, usually impulsively, but it's pretty amazing how things always work out :)
