About Me

A life-long travel enthusiast, I recently returned from traveling around Southeast Asia for a few months. I've lived in Washington, DC for the past nine-plus years, and growing up I lived in various corners of the United States. I just moved to NYC, however, and am excited to explore a new city.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm new to Couchsurfing, but I've heard only good things from those who have participated. My favorite part of traveling is getting to know the local culture and surroundings, and Couchsurfing sounds like a great way to do that. I'd much rather spend my time exploring a particular location with recommendations from someone who actually lives there, rather than solely based on suggestions from a guide book. And I love hearing people talk about their hometown!

Interests

In addition to traveling, I like to read, watch movies, and play board games with friends. I also try to stay active whenever possible, and I particularly enjoy running, yoga, hiking, swimming, and even long walks. This also allows me to indulge my love of food and drink, both by cooking and baking as well as dining out.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Anything with a catchy beat

Movies: Action, suspense, chick flicks

Books: Novels, especially historical fiction. I try to vary between contemporary works and classics, and I'll throw in a biography or non-fiction every once in awhile for good measure. And my guilty pleasure is definitely a detective novel!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I quit my job to travel around Southeast Asia with my boyfriend for a few months, and it has certainly been the most amazing thing I've done so far!

Teach, Learn, Share

I try to learn key phrases in whatever the native language is where I'm visiting. I'm also very happy to help or listen to anyone who wants to practice English.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Having been traveling for the better part of a month now, I can share stories and observations of the places I've been, if you're interested. I also love listening to stories, so you will certainly find me to be a captive audience!
