About Me

I am a British girl who has been living and working in Italy for 4 years.

I have hosted some couchsurfers in my flat in Padova and it has been a great experience! Due to the fact that I am about to go travelling, and am moving out of my flat, I cannot host people at the moment unfortunately!

I studied languages at university (Spanish and Italian) and spent my Erasmus year in Padova (Italy) and Salamanca (Spain). I love meeting people from different cultures, learning new languages (even if it's just a few phrases to get me by) and trying out traditional food and drink!

I truly believe that getting to know the locals is the best way to experience a new culture. I'm so grateful for the fantastic experiences I've had travelling and living in Italy and around Europe. My next goal is to travel to Canada, the US and South America. Life would be boring if we didnt get out of our comfort zone every once in a while!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm travelling to Canada, the US and South America in September/October this year, and would love to find some locals to stay with while I'm there, who can help me really experience the culture and show me some of the less touristy things to do!

Interests

Travelling, cooking, reading, going to the gym, cycling (I cycle 30min to work every day), going to rugby matches (I have been to a few 6 nations games and loved it), going to concerts and gigs, planning where my next trip will be, or planning trips for friends - I love a good itinerary!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love indie, rock and emo music (sometimes I think I'm still a 15 year old emo kid at heart) - one of my favourite all time bands is Brand New. I like pretty much all genres though, as long as there are words I can sing along to. Some more favourites are John Mayer, Frank Ocean, Taylor Swift, Incubus, Gym Class Heroes, Paolo Nutini.

I recently watched "Into the wild" and it has definitely become one of my favourite films.
I also like anything by Guy Ritchie e.g. Snatch.
The Star Wars films are absolute classics.
My favourite Disney film is The Jungle Book :)

My favourite books have to be the Northern Lights trilogy by Philip Pullman. I'm currently reading Game of Thrones. I enjoy fantasy books (Ursula K. Le Guin is another good author), or anything Dan Brown style.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked around "les calanques" in southern France. To get to the best and most beautiful/secluded beaches you have to go over some pretty rocky terrain - but it's so worth it! I will never forget the colour of the sea, photos don't do it justice.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love writing about my travels on my blog, go check it out if you're interested! :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a very tidy an organised person. I can share travel stories and tips. I would be happy to cook something together or even teach you some Italian phrases! :) I think the main thing I could share is my openness to new cultures, cities and experiences, and the fact that I want to get out and explore the world!
