ABOUT ME

I'm told I have the best laugh. I'm a great listener and friend, I enjoy being both very serious and very silly, am creative and artistic, active and curious! I am an introvert disguised as an extrovert. Talented and driven. Spiritual.

PHILOSOPHY

Breathe in. Breathe out. Smile. Calm. (Repeat. )

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surf here and there. Host now and then. Love it every time!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed a few times in CA. Have hosted a few times at my home in Minneapolis. It's always a wonderful exchange.

Interests

I create art in many forms: painting, poetry, cello, guitar, singing, dancing, conversing....I love to share these gifts with others and hopefully receive a glimpse into their mind as well...
I'm very active and love being outdoors on my bike, walking in the woods/sunshine/rain, swimming in lakes, canoeing, playing tennis, gardening, composting, building campfires....
I love hosting events, playing games, and connecting people from different backgrounds.
I've studied racial justice both formally and informally and am constantly thinking about how to decolonize people's minds. I'm now diving deep into ancient and modern teachings on the Enneagram and how to apply this to inner work and personal and collective transformation.
I enjoy cooking vegetarian and organic foods and trying new recipes
I'm usually reading something theology or history related, or just a though provoking novel

Music, Movies, and Books

Ishmael, Love Poems From God, Life of Pi, Our Word is Our Weapon, The Hobbit, Catcher in the Rye

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting the Zapatistas in Chiapas Mexico! They showed us how they are building autonomous, peaceful, and completely democratic communities. We visited the village of Acteal on the anniversary of the massacre there, and I was awestruck by the sense of hope and resurrection felt amongst the people. Through their remembering and storytelling, they are being healed.

Dancing, eating, and worshipping with the Massai village of TwaTwaTwa in Tanzania. The best part was when all the young men did this macho jumping dance to impress all the ladies. They could jump so high and make the rarest sounds with their voices. Impressive indeed!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm happy to show people around my lovely city, especially on bicycle! We've got a couple extra bikes, and there are great trails around the lakes and river. (Minneapolis and Portland are always fighting for the #1 place for being best city in the US for bikers). In the summer there's always a free festival, movie, or music in many parks. I garden and compost and would love to teach about that (and learn more!) I've got several instruments on hand, and would love to have a little jam session if you're musical. In the winter we can go sledding and ice skating!
