ABOUT ME

Hey! My name is Chelsi. I’m a laid back and easygoing super-nerd. I want to give the whole world a giant hug and often get caught up in the waves of my passion. On first impression, I can seem shy and awkward and sometimes people don’t get my sarcasm but I can let loose and have a good time around the right people.

I have a love affair with my computer and often prefer its company to other people. I also love singing and playing my guitar, but in my opinion I’m not very musically inclined so I usually don’t play for other people. I love discovering new music! I also love being outdoors and exploring. If I could choose one artist to compile a soundtrack of my life, I would choose Billy Holiday. I love my family of 7 more than anything. We are tight. It’s always a party.

I am figuring out what college degree will help me best serve others in this world full of inequality. So many options! School has never been my forte, but I enjoy helping others and hope to pursue some career/degree that follows that path.

I’m from Wisconsin and am going to be on the border of Switzerland and France this year getting my minor in French and experiencing my first time outside of the States! I am so excited to have this opportunity and so pumped to experience the beautiful people and magnificent sights. Bring on the culture shock and foreign accents!

I don’t have any experience with CS, but will be traveling with my friend Kaity who is experienced in both surfing and hosting and really look forward to learning and sharing experiences with lots of new people! I love the idea of CouchSurfing and feel like it’s a great way to really get to know a city and its culture/people, and also meet some great souls.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a strong promoter of all things “weird” and unconventional. My mind is wide open. I am always ready to learn and become more aware.
I despise organized religion, but my personal spirituality is important to me.

Interests

I AM SCRABBLE CHAMPION (not really, but I’m pretty darn rad at it.). I love bowling. I’m a supporter of feminism and enjoy encouraging peaceful dialogue about it the various forms of oppression present in the world. Gender boxes suck! I love musicals (except High School Musical…) Judy Garland is probably one of my all-time biggest crushes. I like gaming on older game systems (MORTAL KOMBAT IS THE SHIT). I’m a huge lesbian media buff, if you have any questions about gay/lesbian media…I am your go-to girl. I enjoy reading all sorts of things, poetry especially.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw my mother birth my little brother when I was 15...it was the most disgustingly beautiful and amazing thing. My mother's vagina did a miraculous thing. Our bodies are incredible. It takes a brave person to endure that level of intensity.
