ABOUT ME
I do my best to keep a balance in my life. I love being active. Riding my bike, hiking, running, dancing, jumping over ropes, competitive sports played non-competitively (or maybe just a little), creating things with my hands. But I also love reading, listening to music, engaging in good conversation, enjoying a cup of tea and npr as the city wakes up. I like the fun and crazy in life but I don't need it to enjoy life. I value the reality of everyday. I would rather not escape or avoid it.
PHILOSOPHY
Plan, but take life as it come.
Live in the present, but dream.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
After having lost contact with a friend for nearly eight years we decided to take a road trip together from Colorado to California. I had always planned on starting to couch surf but Joel was a veteran. We stayed with some great people. We also found that we were still pretty cool people and I started an account!

Music, Movies, and Books
music: Fruitbats, Wilco, Dr. Dog, Beirut, Sigur Ros, Feist, Bjork, Gillian Welch, Nina Simone, Brighteyes, Bill Withers, Joanna Newsom, Lauryn Hill, M. Ward, Paul Simon and the like. There are not too many genres that I do not like but am generally more into folk.
movies: My favorite movies are usually artsy. I enjoy watching mindless movies on those mindless days but if I am going to really like the movie it is usually thoughtful, dark, and sometimes the quirky ones get me too. some examples: synecdoche new york, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, blues brothers, ghostbusters. Recently watched and enjoyed: Max and Mary, pirate radio, Alice in wonderland.
books: usually go between historical novels, fun reads, and dense, dense reads. authors include: Karen Armstrong, Jonathan Safran Foer, Kurt Vonnegut, Eckhart Tolle, Michael Pollan, Thich Nhat Hanh. Right now books for school are my top priority but am enjoying Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have watched a therapist calm an overexcited child with a slow ride on a swing. How does that work??
Teach, Learn, Share
I could talk all day about occupational therapy ... good thing since it is taking up all of my time!
