About Me

* I need to update my profile as I got far more aged from the moment that I wrote it, but anyway I am accepting guests!

CURRENT MISSION

To experience more things before I die.

ABOUT ME

I am a student majoring law, also interested in almost everything else in the world.

The objective of my life is having experience as many as I can before I die; but unfortunately I am actually really lazy. Normally I love to stay home, playing computer games or just sleeping. But at least while I can, while I am on Couchsurfing, I try to meet new people, travel foreign countries, read many books and articles, and also drink more alcohols.

* My name is Cheon Giseop; gi is pronounced like a word 'gild', not like 'giraffe', and seop's eo (Cheon's eo as well) is a single syllable quite like u of 'up', so should not be e-o. Usually I say my name is Kiss-up, cause it sounds similar and way far easier.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I've written above, having more experiences, and becoming more open-minded are two main goals that I pursue. Couchsurfing is really a good way of achieving both goals.

By exploring the world and meeting new people from all over the world, I feel that the horizon of my mind is going further, overcoming parochial narrowness. It is an experience that can never be replaced, and that I will never give up.

Interests

Eating foreign cuisine, meeting new people, reading stories/novels, watching American TV series, and...

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC : Classical Music, Rock, Metal. Not k-pops, sorry, but still we can listen to it together if you'd like to :)

MOVIES : I usually just see Hollywood blockbusters, especially history, fantasy or sci-fi movies, such as Lord of the Rings, Inception, and The Kingdom of Heaven. I enjoyed watching Game of Thrones until it ended in an epic farce in Season 8.

Recently, I out-of-nowhere became a huge fan of Frozen series and I can sing songs from Frozen in Spanish and Russian XD

BOOKS : Too many so I cannot write down all names. I like: Franz Kafka's writings, Edgar Allan Poe's, Lord of the Rings, Science Fictions by Arthur Clarke. Many works by Carl Sagan, Jared Diamond, Richard Dawkins; history books, and economic/sociological/psychological analysis on society and human behavior.

GAMES : Usually historical/strategic games. I love Europa Universalis 4 most, definitely my best game that have been absorbing a few hundreds hours from my life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Winning quiz shows which were broadcast nationwide, twice.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you history, language, geography, culture, and current matters of Korea; also, I know some miscellaneous knowledge(so that I could win quiz shows) on many fields so we can discuss current issues around the world to shallow depth. But to go further, my English and knowledge are unfortunately not enough. I hope to improve my language skills I participate Couchsurfing here.

I want to listen to you. I want to learn many things about many countries and nations all over the world. They are all unique, and we are unique persons in unique nations. I want to learn and share experience and hospitality with the hosts and the guests.

And I want to share my favorite quote:

"Consider again that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar", every "supreme leader", every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there - on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam." - 『Pale Blue Dot』, Carl Sagan
