About Me

My name is Cherie, I am a college student living in Southern California. I study biology and hope to go into conservation and restoration. I am a native English speaker and am learning Japanese.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am an aspiring traveler from the United States. I live in Southern California and have only been outside the country once, to Mexico. I will be going to Japan this September for about three weeks with my boyfriend. We have both been learning Japanese for the last year and are excited to make lots of friends to speak and hang out with. We are landing in Tokyo, but we have gotten 14 day Shinkansen rail passes and so we will be able to go to many different parts of Japan easily. We hope to be able to see many traditional aspects of Japan and observe the nature and wildlife. We also hope to attend some of the festivals if possible and would love to meet up with people and hang out at these events.

Interests

I am interesting in science and politics, reading, anime, and being outdoors in nature (hiking, camping, bird watching, etc)

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to mostly rock and heavy metal. Some of my favorites are Rise Against, Persefone, Insomnium, soilwork, etc. I also enjoy listening to Japanese rock music such as larc en ciel, the pillows, Mucc, etc.

I don't watch too many movies or tv, but I like watching Japanese anime and tv series like game of thrones and breaking bad.

My favorite series of all time is the Gentleman Bastards series by Scott Lynch. I read mostly fantasy and science fiction and I am a big Harry Potter fan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I interned at the Rocky Mountain Biological laboratory in Colorado in the Rocky Mountains for 2 months. It was beautiful. I did a lot of hiking and bird watching. You can see a lot of wildlife there; the deer will walk right up to you and you can see foxes, marmots, big horn sheep, pronghorn antelope, and so much more. I stayed up in Crested Butte and Gothic. I highly recommend visiting this area eventually.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English and American culture, politics, etc. and likewise I would like to learn more about your language and culture. I can also teach you biology if you want xD
