About Me

One side of me is a mixture of guts, curiosity and impulsiveness. The other side comprises of a great deal of thoughts, passion and faith. I enjoy hanging out and laughing with friends as much as I like taking solitary walks through the streets and the hills.

Having lived in a crowded, bustle and hustle city for my life, I like to get close to the nature to find peace.

I am lucky enough to have been to a number of places outside Hong Kong in the past years, and I believe that only meeting and spending time with the locals can a traveller truly understand a place. I'm grateful to be still keeping in touch with friends I made in different parts of the world during my travels. Cultural exchange is fascinating and inspiring to me.

PHILOSOPHY

Recognise your actions, speech and mind. Transform the negative ones to create inner peace and generate positive energy for yourself and others. Fruits of your good deeds will eventually come back to you.
Care about the environment because that's where we are from.
Never give in to injustice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed with several wonderful hosts in Japan and I'm looking forward to the next one!

Interests

I love anything that responds to our relentless search for meanings, opens the gate to our contemplative space and encourages us to probe into the truth behind illusions. Some of my favourite includes: contemporary art, chinese and watercolour paintings, nature, music, video and films, performances, good food, people and surprises.
I like to have long, deep chat with friends and even strangers. The experience is often very fulfilling, inspiring and eye-opening.

I'm currently on a sporty mode too - jet skiing around the Straits of Melacca, doing yoga at the top of the mountain, dancing on the table in a karaoke room...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm surrounded by a lot of wonderful people and amazing things. It's hard to pick the best one but I do have one dear to my heart that I'd love to share. I once accidentally went into a ghetto alone as I was looking around for a story for my documentary assignment and was chatted up by some gangsters. Fortunately I survived and hopped on the first bus I saw after getting out of the area without a moment of hesitation. Feeling anxious for not having anything for the assignment, I talked to people around me to get to know about the district. The bus driver heard me and drove me to meet an amazing street singer (close to a safe university area ;). The singer was blind, but was very dedicated to music and had a kind heart. We were total strangers, but he told me about his life story and even dedicated a song to me. I was so touched by the trust that this blind street singer had in me, and tears went down my face when I edited the recordings. Sometimes, human connection can be just as pure.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you Cantonese (the other major dialect in Chinese). It has a much longer history than Mandarin and you can find a lot of stories behind every character. I also know a bit of Chinese painting and calligraphy. We can explore the beautiful traditional arts together. I also love singing and would be more than happy to channel our inner Mariah together ; D
I currently don't have a place where I can couch people, but please send me a message for recommendations of great food and exciting places to go to in Hong Kong.
