About Me
Hi I'm Cherisse, or Chez in Australian ;)
I love people, pizza and exploring planet Earth <3
I’m from the beautiful city of Perth, Western Australia, but am currently living my dream and travelling around the world!!! So far I have travelled through Europe for five months, India for two months, and am now in South America :D
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m proud to be a solo traveller, and love the freedom and serendipity this can bring. But I also love people, and making new connections on the road is my favourite thing about travelling! I’ve had really positive experiences meeting up with people via CS in my hometown, and am now on my own big adventure travelling around all around the world for one year! I want to meet up and stay with interesting people from all walks of life along the way, to make new friends, immerse myself in different cultures and share our life stories.
“We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us” <3

Music, Movies, and Books
I LOVE to read - for me a book is a portal to another universe :)
Sci-fi, fantasy and mysteries are my favourites but I will read anything and everything. On my trip at the moment I’ve been trying not to buy any new books and just read books from book exchanges, second hand shops or swapping with other travellers - this has been a really interesting experience as it’s made me read a lot of books I might not have otherwise. I’m also a massive Harry Potter fan!
I really love watching movies (normally at home with a blanket and a glass of wine) My favourite movie of all time is Cloud Atlas and fave TV series is Sherlock.
I love a huge variety of music, especially songs I can sing and dance to!
Some of my favourite bands are Queen, Garbage, Oh Mercy, Vera Blue, Florence & the Machine, Radiohead, Bring Me The Horizon, Powderfinger, Montaigne and Middle Kids.
I also really love to listen to music from other cultures and always ask travellers I meet for their recommendations. At the moment because I’m learning Spanish I’ve been listening to a lot of Calle 13, Rupatrupa and Manu Chao.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I did a 10 day Vipassana silent meditation retreat in India - it was the most difficult but most amazing experience of my life so far!
Teach, Learn, Share
I believe to travel and experience the world is the best education anyone can have. For me travelling is always more about the people than the place. It’s incredible how just one conversation with someone new can change not only your perspective, but maybe even your whole life! My favourite question to ask people is “tell me your life story”. It’s a big topic, but I’m constantly surprised and amazed by the way people choose to answer this! And it normally leads to long, deep and meaningful conversations - which are always my favourite!
I also love cooking, eating, music, yoga, meditation and hiking and would be happy to share any of these with you :)
I can also speak/teach English with you, or practise my Italian and Spanish (because I really do need to practise more!) as well as any other languages!
