ABOUT ME
My girlfriend Jillian and I are currently traveling New Zealand by camper van and would love to meet some folks along the way. We're traveling on a 12 month working holiday visa and are taking a few months to see the country before we stop to look for work.
I've just finished two seasons of working as a boat operator and navigational watch on small cruise ships in Alaska, and am looking forward to the next adventure, on or off the water. I have also been recently diving more deeply into learning about instrument building, and just finished building a mandola.
Jillian has spent the last couple years working as a projectionist at an independent theater; and as an assistant innkeeper and sous chef at a Victorian B&B, while in period dress no less.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Surfing couches, usually. When I'm home and you're traveling the area I'd be happy to show you around town, go for a hike, etc. I love to meet people, hear their stories.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
Been hosted by some lovely folks who had never met me and knew nothing about me, when I was standing on a highway in a remote place in December. Cold, wet and lost and they offered their home and a much needed hot toddy and a seat by the fire. I think that's pretty amazing. Homesteaded on a tiny romote island in Alaska for four months.

I could teach you a new tune if you play an instrument. I also study wild edibles so could show you some edible plants or mushrooms. Ever wanted to learn some knots?
I love to cook, so if you want to share a favorite recipe I'd be thrilled. If you write and feel like sharing I really enjoy reading things people have written, whatever form that takes.
