About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To use all my skills and experience to live life to my fullest potential and help and support others along the way.

ABOUT ME

I see myself as a citizen of the world rather than holding rigidly to be a UK national, which I am, or of Indian Ancestry, which I also am.

I guess growing up in between 2 cultures brings you to thinking about things earlier than most people have to, and I've come to the conclusion, that at some level we are all equal. This next bit might sound corny, but I don't care, rather than seeing a hierarchy of people, presidents, prime ministers, doctors, at the top etc.,I think of us more like stars in the sky. Yes, some of us may shine brighter, some of us be more appealing than others but we are all unique and have our own little spot.

Love dancing, drama, comedy, art, conversation, laughter, smiles and music amongst other things, and, oh yes, life.

I’ve been pescatarian since October 2016. I would now call myself pesca polotarian as I eat birds as well as fish, though not that often.

PHILOSOPHY

Life consists of our own individual journeys. In this time, I am grateful for every path that crosses mine, every lesson I learn, and the amazing wonderful people I have met and those who are there next to me who I call my friends. (family can count as this), and for any life I likewise touch, may there always be something positive to gain.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think this is a great idea. I'd like to spend time with people, show them around, if they want, can offer travel advice: what tickets would be best, cheapest etc; can temporarily borrow my London map etc, when they come over, if they want and just get to know people from all over the place, likewise have contacts when I go around to different places. People with local knowledge.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

First started meeting and staying with new people when I was traveling around South-East Asia, and had some really positive experiences that opened my mind. Have stayed with a couch-surfer since then, met a few others, hosted a couchsurfer or two and hosted my own regular Couchsurfing event in Staines in the past. Love couchsurfing!

Interests

Many things, traveling of course! Different countries, different people and different perspectives. I have looked at other international sites, but this seems to be the best.

New experiences, dance, music, singing and writing and performing my own songs, comedy, reading, tv and films. Football, more to play in than watch, in a small community team.

Music, Movies, and Books

Have an eclectic taste in music.

I tend to enjoy films with positive messages - Green mile, Shawshank redemption, or some romantic films, he he.. eg 'He's just not that into you' 'Stardust' or funny ones, even silly funny ones.
Books - I LOVE reading and belong to a book club, which often leads me to choices I wouldn't otherwise have made.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen thousands of amazing night skies, and (less frequently he he he) many amazing sun-rises in destinations all over the globe.

I've walked across an island from one side to another in Thailand on a beautiful night and in the absence of another felt utterly romantic all by myself!

I've been on a 3 week (one week to cross) transatlantic cruise and made a phone call from the middle of the Atlantic ocean. :-)

I've witnessed the Summer Solstice at Stone Henge, U.K.

I've seen mountains, oceans and desserts and met and heard from amazing people.

That's lots of things...

I've also done a parachute jump. That was cool!

Teach, Learn, Share

From the age of 5 I've always been studying some kind of dance. You may have noticed this as a thread. :-) I've done ballet, tap, acrobatics, salsa, ballroom, belly dancing, classical Indian: BharataNatyam and a little Kathak... I've composed my own pieces, performed for charity and if you'd like a taster in any of these let me know. :-)

I'd like to learn to look after myself in the wild. - I can set a proper fire, but don't know how to set the spark from nature. - They say rubbing 2 sticks together, does it work? What berries can you eat? etc. I wouldn't mind catching an animal either. :-) although I eat birds and fish, but I don't feel that squeemish about the idea of killing to eat, not pleasant perhaps, but if I was pushed into the situation, I might do it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A friendly disposition, an open mind, and all the knowledge that I've picked up in my journey so far.
