About Me

Hello fellow CSer!

Travel dates: 12-27 March 2016 (Taiwan and Hong Kong)

I want to see the world, meet new people. I'm always up to try new things.

Tons of fun to be around (I hope haha) I illustrate whenever I can fit it in. Being in love and a common patron of the arts, I have learned so much about humans, passion and a little of the world that wet my appetite to experience it first hand through travelling. Hence... I am here! I also enjoy bringing people around my country and helping them taste the uniqueness of Singaporean food. I always believed food bonds people in an unspoken way.

Oh, my friends call me "Space" or "Spacemonkey" so that's fun! Long story behind it hahah but I'll share if you wanna know. But I suppose it is a testament of what fun I can be around!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Just love meeting new people and experiencing the word through your life. Can't wait to share a little of mine with yours as well. Isn't that the best way to see the world? What better way to learn about a country than to live it through the eyes and taste buds (I want to try as much local food as I can) if the locals themselves?

That being said, I want to show you all the secrets and treasures Singapore has to offer too. From our amazing and diverse foods to out alien-like skyscrapers all the way to the hidden tracks and trials even many Singaporeans themselves have yet to discover.

Interests

I enjoy theatre, arts and literature. I really love cultural arts as well. And people, I definitely like meeting new people.

I love immersing myself in other cultures and understanding them. I am always interested in how culture inspires art and art influences culture. It's a beautiful relationship between the two.

Music, Movies, and Books

Woah. Too many to list. But my favourite books and movies are about adventures (well, befittingly of course)

It's a little hard to specify but to give you a vibe, for music I love rock, indie rock, punk rock, pop punk, pop, oldies, Latino, christian pop.

For movies, some of my favourite go-to movies are Big Fish, Harry Potter marathons, Xmen marathons (yes, I am a little bit of a nerd), the secret life of Walter Mitty and any fairytale twist. Oh and the girl in me will always secretly be in love with Disney.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 14, I stayed in a zinc shack in the mountains of SiChuan helping to rebuild a school after the earthquakes. Despite the cold and the constant lack of food, it was the most memorable experience for me. From farming with the local kids, to helping them with English and learning new games and Mandarin from them to trekking through the mountains to visit their families. It was the start of my love for people of different walks of life. Also, it made me want to experience people's lives first hand. Through their eyes and their hearts.

Teach, Learn, Share

I come from a really interesting mix of cultures hence a pretty interesting cultural lifestyle I can share with people. I am both Peranakan and Chinese as well as having grown up around so many other races within my school, celebrating their holidays so I can share quite a bit about that with you. If you happen to be picking up Mandarin I can help you a little (but let's be really honest, I failed that subject a lot back in school haha). Im alright at it conversationally. Oh, and I can illustrate pretty well and im pretty spontaneous with things so might be really fun! Well, I am always willing to share hugs and great conversations about lots of things.

Hmmm, I can't really list what I want to learn other than cultures. I just really love meeting people and each one teaches me something new. I can't wait to learn about what the world and you has to offer.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Lots of smiles (: other than that, great conversations, fun spontaneous things and I can help to cook and clean!

I can share a lot about my culture as I mentioned above! I am a little bit of a jack of all trades master of none so if you'd like to learn anything like cooking Singaporean dishes, kickboxing, dance, singing (although I believe most people actually can sing), drawing/ illustrating or even Mandarin and marine life, let me know! If you just want me to be an awesome friend to top all that, I can offer it too! Also, some humor and lots of laughs.
