About Me

CURRENT MISSION

We are the ones we've been waiting for. Let go of all reason and commit your life to what you love. There are no regrets - live fully, laugh lots and love beyond measure.

ABOUT ME

I've been a Community Weaver for 18 years. Traveled the country and Canada. Received the Jefferson Award in 2007 for my contribution to create a more civil society. Moved to Long Beach, WA in 2009 to write a book "Our Community Cares" and enjoy the majestic beauty of Olympic Peninsula and Pacific Ocean. I love bon fires under the starry sky, watching pelicans fly across the horizon as the sun sets and meeting new people to grow an extended family around the world. In between contracted work implementing Community Weaving I enjoy experiencing other cultures in community settings.

PHILOSOPHY

Hope Elders tell us the time of the lone wolf is over. We are the ones we've been waiting for. Diversity is a blessing. Live in the moment and be the change you want to see in the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Over the past 15 years I've housed over 100 guests in my home. None of them were strangers. It was as if they were sent to bless me and my family in some way. I've had the privilege of housing an Ambassador from Burundi, Africa who I helped raise funds to build over 3,000 homes in his war torn country. Egypt's premiere cellist stayed with us for 6 months. Imagine waking up to the world's greatest cellists practicing Arabic scales. I can't tell you how grateful I am for the many people who have come into my life.

We have a "condo on wheels" in Long Beach, WA we share with fellow travelers. We enjoy meeting new people and creating memorable moments. In the winter, we can hear the coyote's howl, cricket's chirp and frogs croaking.

Our 28' Catalina has been shelter for many a traveler.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm not new to the notion of welcoming strangers into my home and providing them with a nice bed and a good home cooked meal. I'm fortunate to be part of the Good Neighbors network and have people who have welcomed me into their homes. I've Couch Surfed in the Pacific Northwest and I've stayed in the most amazing places. I'm inspired by the many stories surfers share about their travels and CS experiences. Seems like all of them have made new friends.

Interests

Even though I have been successful in my contribution to creating a better society, I live simply. I have a desire to be a part of an income sharing intentional community someday.

We enjoy outdoor activities, singing, performing in theatre, growing garden, wave riding, horseback riding along the surf (especially at dawn), dancing and sing alongs around a campfire.

I especially like cooking food from other cultures.

Music, Movies, and Books

Appreciate theatrical movies of real life stories like Funny Girl, The Martian Child and Iron Will. I enjoyed the Notebook, Les Miserables and The Bone Collector. Stories that inspire courage and persistence.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are so many things I've done and moments I'll cherish for the rest of my life. My feats of accomplishments haven't been climbing mountains, but I have managed to leverage changes in the world that will have a lasting impact on future generations.

I find beauty in the simplest of things. The indian paint brush in Glenwood Canyon, CO, the hot springs on the McKenzie River in OR, the Grand Tetons, the big sky of Montana, rafting Boxcar in an intertube, rafting down a Colorado River, Campin at Clear Lake, the Pacific Ocean, Pow Wow on Lakota Indian reservation, visiting the Tibetan Munks and making a mondala. Visiting historical sites that give us insight into our American heritage.

Teach, Learn, Share

Community Weaving is a way to weave a new safety net of people who function at a higher consciousness level because they are committed to serving others. We developed a free web technology where people from all around the world can pool their resources and start preparing from what lies ahead. For more information go to: www.goodneighbors.net and www.communityweaving.org to gain insight into the theory and practice of transformative community building.
