About Me

Hiya!

My name is Chevy, 23 years old, and I'm based in San Francisco, California. I am originally from Las Filipinas. But, I've also lived in Panamá, Hawai'i, and all around California.

I work in the tech industry, but tbh I have a strong passion for history and politics. I especially have a nerdy interest in colonial Philippines history of the 19th-20th centuries. My growing interest in Hispanic studies leads me to travel more around Latin America, my most recent experience being Cuba.

Growing up, I've been privileged to have lived in such diverse countries and have learned different languages. Overall, I am a pretty jolly person who enjoys good vibes, good food, and cheesy jokes. From simply sitting around a table with friends drinking the night away, to impromptu adventures to the most random of places with new buddies. Equally, I am also a pretty chill person who can go with any vibe and especially I have the utmost respect of my surroundings.

Quirky facts:
1) I have a 100+lbs Saint Bernard doggo who loves playing with my father's pet pigeons.
2) I like big cities, but I like living in the outskirts, away from the crowds.
3) I don't like pizza :(

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When traveling, I prefer to experience a day in a local's life. I want to see what locals see, hear what locals hear, experience what locals experience.

I remember while working as a teacher in Central America, my students and colleagues had more to teach me than I had to offer to them. I believe that other people will always have more to offer to you as an individual. I believe you will always have more to learn. This is what I think CS promotes, and I would like to be a part of that community, that push, and that global movement.
