Hi I'm JJ, nice to meet you!

I'm from Singapore, a nice little island-country at the south of the Malayan peninsular. My country is a small one, housing only 6 million people in an area smaller than most big cities in other countries. Here in Singapore we are a nice mix of Chinese, Indian, Malay and Eurasian nationalities and this is perhaps the most multicultural country you will ever see in the world!

In Singapore, English is our lingua franca - or 'first language'. Everyone here speaks English and we learn it in our schools. However, we also learn our mother tongue and I am also fluent in Chinese. It comes as no surprise then that we have our own English 'slang' called Singlish, which is a hotpot of English with a bit of Chinese dialect and Malay.

I'll be heading off to study in America at Cornell University in January 2016, and very eager to meet new people before then!

Before flying to America to study, I want to travel and see the world. I am planning to travel to Taiwan and what better way is there to meet the locals than to stay with one!

I used to play Softball for my school back in high school and also in the Singapore national youth team. I've been to training trips to Taiwan, Australia and Thailand and have played with teams from those countries!

I also love to do sports and trek in scenic locations! Having been in the army brought me a little closer to nature and I enjoy nice scenery.

I enjoy pop music and Chinese pop such as 周杰伦 and 林俊杰!

I enjoy singing and can play simple chords on the guitar as well as simple drumbeats on the cajon (box drum), so if you're up to a bit of jamming then so am I!

I enjoy war movies and Korean dramas in my free time.
