ABOUT CHIARA
I've been a globetrotter since my first overseas stay in Germany when I was 21 years old. It was the beginning of backpacks, couches, traveling friends and floating emotions. Since then I haven't stopped soaking up cultures, learning and speaking different sounds, eating traditional food and enjoying any kind of people I have met.
I find that the more countries you live in, the more you want to experience!
I do my best to be an activist for human rights, gender equality and sustainable life; I am also deeply concerned with environment and animal rights.
In my spare time I love being a language teacher focused on social education and keen to change the world into a better place to live in.
I have taught Italian as a 2nd language to asylum seekers and immigrants; I have worked with male detainees, children and adults from different countries.
I have been learning from every single person I have met in my pathway: I believe that everyone has something to give and something to take.
I have lived for years in Italy, Germany and Portugal.
I have been in Australia for 5 months and I am looking forward to getting to know deeper to the Aussie life and its beautiful colours.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love surfing boards and waves, words and languages, mattresses on the floor and couches.
I have been hosted at several friends' houses and I have been hosting a lot of people with enthusiasm and curiosity.
I'd love to share experiences and talents, meet different people and have great time in new places.
Interests
I have backpacks plenty of passions and enjoy learning.
Languages and cultures are at the pole position;
Reading and writing story tales for children;
Used to be a dancer, now I am an avid swimmer;
Sports, healthy and sustainable food;
Cookies and organic coconut oil;
Activist for gender equality and against FGM (Female Genital Mutilation);
Comics (especially The Peanuts, Mafalda and mangas);
I love reading and studying different topics relating to emotions, memory, linguistics, philology, literature, education, children and immigrants.

Teach, Learn, Share
We can have good moments together, sharing what we know, having great food and a couple of beers.
Ricardo (my husband) and I are keen to cook for you and very pleased to help you with many things.
During the coming months I won't be able to host people because of lack of space in our tiny shared apartment BUT as soon as we move to a bigger and more private place I will re-start welcoming people!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Everyone can teach me a lot and I can share everything you are interested in!
I can cook some portuguese and italian food. I am keen to clean or tidy some place of your house.
I can share my knowledge and listen to yours! We can have a really nice time together :)
