About Me

People usually say: "You know yourself the best."
Must agree, but I have a little bit chaotic mind so I don't really know where to start.
huh, maybe from the beginning?

Well, my name is Chiara and no one knows how to pronounce my name (except Italians) so don't worry.
I am from Rijeka, Croatia but I have corazón Latino ❤️
That means I am in love with my life, I love when music is too loud, alcohol is too strong or people way too passionate. I love latino culture, music and way of life. Everything is pura buena onda ♡.

As a 14 year old I was encouraged by my beloved father to went to London all by myself and discover what it feels like to live, to discover, to travel. So I did and thanks to him, I become an incurable travel addict.
I was never sure what I wanted to do for a living that is why I am still wandering in life, trying to find myself and enjoying at the process.

I have an inner urge to express myself through art; I often write poems and do photography. I'm in love with every aspect of art no matter whether is it photography, fashion, cinematography, painting, architecture, music, writing or anything creative someone is doing as long as they are passionate about that.

I would describe myself as an easy going, adventures, open minded, sarcastic, humorous and optimistic person who would like to spend life travelling around the world. I love learning about new cultures, languages and customs. On the other hand, my mother told me I am hard to swallow because of my indecisiveness that is as wide and wavering as the ocean.

I see beauty in imperfection.

PHILOSOPHY

Do what you love and do it with a passion.
If you don't like your job/college/relationship - quit.
Life is way too short to waste time on shitty people or shitty coffee.
Cherish and appreciate every moment of your life.
Be always kind.
Don't be afraid to dream.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Nowadays I strongly believe Couchsurfing is one of the best travel sites over the internet.
The most valuable souvenir you can take home is an insight of ordinary life from particular country.
I always prefer to see new destinations true the eyes of locals because I consider myself as a traveller rather than just tourist.
On Couchsurfing I met so many wonderful people that I proudly call friends now.

Interests

As one of the greatest poets, Fernando Pessoa, said:
“My soul is impatient with it, as with a bothersome child; it's restlessness keeps growing and is forever the same. Everything interests me, but nothing holds me."
So far, only art could hold me that thought I could consider it my obsession more than interest.
I’m a big fan of all kinds of art but greatest love of all is photography - it’s my purpose to be here and capture the moments.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC: The Script, Alt-J, Lana del Rey, Manu Chao, Passenger, Bastille, Bon Iver, Imagine Dragons, Hozier, Milky Chance and whole bunch of latino bands you've never heard of.

MOVIES: Sherlock Holmes, The Great Gatsby, V for Vendetta, Blow, Requiem for a dream, The silence of the lambs, Black Swan, Lion, The Shack, The Pianist, The Danish Girl;

BOOKS: there two books that touch me and shake me to the core - The sorrows of young Werther by J.W. Goethe ( it was like meeting inner me but in a form of a book) and 1000 days of spring by Tomislav Perko (it inspired inner traveler in me to hit the road).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I stayed (and survived) at desert island Zmajan for 10 days; without electricity, shower, toilet, proper bed and other things that we usually take for granted.
I was homeless in New York City for 5 nights in a row.
I was homeless in some other places but they are not worth mentioning since it was just per night or two.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you:
- how to make the really good mash potato (that's what my host in Cordoba said).
- how to speak 'hood' Croatian

You could teach me:
- how to speak some slang in your language
- how to make good guac ( I am really terrible at it)

What I Can Share with Hosts

my lame jokes, my time and beers (if I will have them in the fridge at the time).
