About Me
Hi everyone! I am Chiara, a social butterfly from Italy on a mission to discover the world.
I haven't lived in my home Country for many years: after a study exchange program with my university many years ago (I lived in Miami for a semester) I never stopped again and moved around a lot, studying, working abroad and traveling long term.
Life has taken me to some amazing places and experiences, from a Master's degree in London to a working holiday in Australia, from poor but sexy Berlin to amazing beaches in Asia, from volunteering at a treehouse hostel in Nicaragua to living a dream lifestyle in a villa in Bali, becoming location independent and working remotely for over a year... I can say I have done a bit of everything :-)
I know is clichè but traveling really has opened so many opportunities for me, brought me closer to amazing human beings and gave me the best memories yet - so here I am, not wanting to stop!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Hostels are great and I love to meet fellow travelers, but the experience you can get with a local showing you around his/her city or simply sharing an home cooked meal, exchanging life stories, tips and thoughts is way more fun!

Music, Movies, and Books
I really love music and if I had to pick a genre right now I'd say house and disco, with a touch of techno here and there (I lived in Berlin for more than 3 years after all...) I went through a lot of different phases though, like everyone, I guess :-)
So I used to love R'n'B and hip-hop (old school) and used to listen to Italian rap a lot. Now not anymore but still know some lyrics by heart... I had a bit of an indie phase with Arctic Monkeys and the like, and also really really really like DNB. Haven't been to a proper rave in years but volunteered at Outlook a few years ago and that was awesome!
I also liked more chilled stuff, instrumental hip hop, trip hop and lo-fi house - great to work to!
I love to read, I would actually like to read more than I do... I like romance (ever heard of Shantaram?), thrillers and classics. Not really into fantasy and no, I didn't read or watched Harry Potter. I hope we can still be friends.
My favourite movies are thrillers, gangsters, drama but also cartoons. Anything from The Departed to Finding Nemo, freally. Not a fan of chick flicks but hey, everyone loves The notebook right?
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have done my working holiday visa thing in Australia a few years ago, and the most amazing thing I have done was to rent a van and travel in it for about a month. This may not sound so exciting for the most adventurous ones, but for a someone like me, who was completely new to camping, was challenging and so absolutely great.
I also left a full time job in 2018 to "try out" the "digital nomad thing" and made it work so far :-) have been location independent for over a year and earned enough money to keep traveling and discovering amazing places, while being able to run a business on the go. Pat on the back!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can obviously teach you some Italian and I can cook amazing "risotto alla milanese" or carbonara (not everywhere you can find the perfect ingredients though).
Always down for sharing meals and drinks, happy to learn new languages and my favourite activity is definitely sharing travel stories. And music festivals! I got into yoga since a couple of years (have I mentioned I lived in Bali?) so would be happy to share some practice, or a class.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Can cook, can listen, can play nice music and can teach Italian :-)
