About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Making a great success of Books 4 Life (a secondhand bookshop for charity)!

ABOUT ME

As you can see, I am a Chinese girl, living in Utrecht, the Netherlands. I'm a busy girl: I meet up a lot with my friends, I'm the chair and volunteer coordinator of a secondhand bookshop for charity in Utrecht(check www.books4life.nl, English version is available), spend time on my passion, which is everything about food (including eating and cooking), read lots of books and inbetween I try to work, travel, breath and eh... eat more.

PHILOSOPHY

I'd really like to add something to other people's life. Whether it be a good recipe or encouring someone to finish his studies. Why? It just makes me feel good :-) (so basically this is a really selfish philosophy).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I unfortunately can't host anyone, as I share my appartment with another girl. She's nice, but isn't really into having any strangers in our casa... However, if you need anyone to show you around or have dimsum in the best place in Utrecht; feel free to contact me!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Although I joined couchsurfing in November 2008, I haven't got any real couchsurf experiences yet. Hopefully I will get my first one in New York :-)

Interests

Cooking, eating, travelling, reading, history (especially 2nd World War really fascinates me), watching movies, dancing, being a volunteer (not just here, but abroad as well), learning Spanish, meeting new cool people, superheroes (I used to collect X-men comics when I was 17...haha, I was a bit a of nerd I guess, but a cute one ;-P)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies:
basically everything by Pixar, superhero movies, and movies like Pan's Labyrinth, La vita e bella

Music:
depends on what I am doing: while washing the dishes --> british bands like Coldplay and Keane. While having dinner with friends --> something tranquilo, like classical music. While dancing --> R 'n B, Hiphop. While cleaning up my living room --> any noise from TV

Books:
Non-fiction like history books, especially about wars and genocides (can't help why I'm so fascinated about that....) and real life stories, but also fiction like Life of Pi, Da Vinci Code, Blindness. Furthermore, cooking books of course or other books about food (like the Truth about Food).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably my volunteerwork in the south and north of Thailand. The kids (well, most of them) are just adorable. Also, I really enjoyed hitchhiking there. I met some very, very nice local people. I will never forget these experiences.

One more thing; running a bookshop is also pretty amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

If travelling is about other getting to know other cultures, then I guess the best way to do so is to be in the middle of it. So people, take me into your house and enrich me with the specialness of your daily life! In return, I will add a bit of Dutch/ Chinese flavour to it.

Countries I’ve Visited
