About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Do the things that scare you!
ABOUT ME
I grew up in Illinois just south of Chicago. I recently finished college in the United States and spent a year working in Chicago. Now my wife and I are living in Kiel, Germany for a year while she studies.
PHILOSOPHY
Question everything, and talk to everybody. Life is short, and money isn't everything. Experience is more important than possessions.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've only surfed so far. Spent a couple of weeks near Vancouver surfing around and met the most interesting people. My most recent experience was a few years ago in Antwerp with a great host who took us on a 4 hour tour of the city!
Interests
I'm a huge fan of the arts. I love poetry; jazz and folk music; classic, art and foreign film; and enjoy painting and sculpture. I've just started to write a bit myself and have been playing the guitar for 6.5 years now.
I also like to study economics, philosophy, and religion. I've devoted some time to reading the Bible and Koran this summer to try to get a better understanding of the books that influence so many lives worldwide.
I believe in economic democracy and would like to develop cooperative businesses in the future.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like films by: Alfred Hitchcock, Jean Luc Godard, Lars von Trier, Fatih Akin, Spike Lee; Ingmar Bergman; Fellini- as well as a host of other classic films.
I enjoy world music (particularly Indian/Hindustani music), jazz, folk, and a number of other genres. I play guitar as a hobby with my wife.
Lately, I've been reading a lot of non-fiction. However, I like some novels. I can't really give a good overall description, I read a lot.
I read a lot of history of the world.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hitchhiking from Düsseldorf to Antwerp, traveling from Istanbul to Germany by train, New Years Eve in Naples and Milan.
