About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find both vigor and peace in each moment. To expand my photographic eye. To not be static and design a better toaster... and to get more involved regularly with CS!

ABOUT ME

I am a former actor.
I am a former waiter.
I am a musician without a band.
I am an I.T. professional without a desire.
I am a photographer without a clue.
I am a hostel papa away from home. (GYPSY POWER!)
I am wandersoffalot to some, chickentender to others.
I am many things. So are you.

"...when I look down, I just miss all the good stuff, and when I look up, I just trip over things."

I used to have a very honest yet cheeky blurb here... Much has changed and much has remained the same but more has changed. All I really know is that I know nothing at all. Hummingbird shows me the way and I've Raven at my arm and Bear in my heart, always. I hope that does not change.

I recently finished traveling far and wide, a very long sojourn... well, actually it was nearly 3 years ago now since I returned(can't believe it's been that long). Those 2 years away were nothing short of extraordinary. I've met and loved people from across the globe. I traveled to New York, Brussels, Amsterdam, Lille, Vienna, Istanbul, Singapore, Brisbane and then lived and traveled for 12 months in New Zealand, based for half of it in Wellington where I worked in IT contracting and managed a hostel. I then traveled to Australia and Hawaii before returning home.

In more recent times I have a tiny apartment in one of the more awesome neighborhoods of Seattle (Free Ballard!) and am incredibly lucky in love with my lady, Bonnie. She and I live with two cats, both simultaneously irritating and adorable as cats will be. I work full time for a webcasting software company doing production work, and when I find time still work occasional photo gigs and otherwise immerse myself in photography as a hobby (I enjoy that it is still mostly a passtime and not that which must provide my rent). I love bread and bbq and sushi and coffee and proper tea and whisky and latin food and thai and.... let's just say I enjoy libations and good food. As does Bonnie. That works out well. You should feel similarly.

My lady Bonnie is an awesome woman, nearly finished with her final year of law school at University of Washington. We are planning an extended year long trip, some traveling together and some solo in 2015 which should include S. America, S.E. Asia, a return (for me) to New Zealand and visiting quite a few friends in Europe.

The world is big. The world is tiny. Glad we're in it, eh?

Cheers y salud!

PHILOSOPHY

"We're all just visitors here."

and now for list of some of my favorite quotes... (people love quotes)

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it solely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”
-Mark Twain

"A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world."
-Oscar Wilde

"...when I look down, I just miss all the good stuff, and when I look up, I just trip over things." -ani difranco

Truth is, everybody is going to hurt you; you just gotta find the ones worth suffering for." -Bob Marley

"Never postpone joy."
-Barney Stinson

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

CS for the last good while keeps listing my login location as Mt Laurel, New Jersey, which is odd in that I have never been to Mt Laurel, New Jersey, and it is on the other side of the CONTINENT from Ballard, Seattle WA, where I actually live.... but anyhow...

I have never, not once hosted or surfed via this site which is really weird because I've hung out and traveled with a so many couchsurfer members and hosted a fair number of folks when they've passed back through here and friends of friends I've met through my travels. But it has always been of the organic kind... I think I'd like to change that asap.... hence (See below)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have always always meant to use this site, and have known so many people that have for years with great experiences. I guess I just always wound up staying with people I met just on the fly or old friends as my 'natural' network grew. Or maybe I was just lazy in getting this profile up and happy looking. Either way.. fixing her up now. :) Hi CS!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I watched, very young, as the billowing black and grey plume of the Mount St Helens eruption came toward my childhood home, enveloped it and turned everything into a strange grey wasteland like nothing I've seen before or since.

I've jumped out of several perfectly good airplanes.
