Hello! I'm Chiel.

I'm a thoughtful, music-loving 23 year old dutch guy who recently received his bachelor in analytical chemistry. I enjoy working out (fitness), reading (fantasy) books, gaming, going to festivals/concerts and listening to (electronic) music. I've been a bass guitar player in a cover band for several years, have recently started to take up (self-learned) piano playing and (try to) produce electronic music with my computer. I also have a bi-weekly hourly music podcast that I make with a friend that contains music which we're both passionate about.

I'm currently residing in Osaka for a few weeks to do some volunteering and experience the cherry blossom hype. Will be making daytrips to surrounding cities like Nara and Kyoto

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Recently, I've been working as a (forensic) food analyst to save up for traveling through Asia. Before taking the next big step in my life, which will either be going for a Masters degree or working (abroad?), I would love to see and experience more of the world. I'd love to learn more about foreign cultures, music and people. I consider myself a hard-working individual and if there is any possibility of me returning a favor, you can expect my fullest effort and dedication!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hopped in a car with a few of my mates to drive to London (from Holland) in a weekend to see Above&Beyond in concert. Arrived, had the most amazing night of my life, went back home.

Teach, Learn, Share

I studied analytical chemistry, but I'm sure that knowledge isn't very interesting for everyday use :P. I know some basic music theory and can teach a bit of bass guitar. I can cook excellent dutch cuisine such as "Stamppot" or "Wentelteelfjes".

I'd love to learn more about culture from a local instead of getting it from a tourist book or movie. Also, I have a quest to eat/try/devour some crazy food.
