About Me

CURRENT MISSION

make the most of my time in Japan!

ABOUT ME

I have been studying Japanese since I was 15 years old. After 3 years of studying it at Uni, I came to Japan for one year as an exchange student, in order to learn more and interact with Japanese people and culture. This year has been a life changing experience, and I believe that there is nothing quite like leaving your cozy little nest to teach you what life is about. Currently, I am on a mission to find the meaning of life, and as always, that road is unclear and may be compared to "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".

I love humour and laughing a lot! I love cooking, especially if it's for friends! (I have been told that I am good cook as well, so I got that going for me.) I dabble in drawing every now and again, I LOVE studying kanji (Japanese writing characters), I can play the flute if I absolutely must (but it's been a while) and I have been known to enjoy midnight walks and midnight talks, which I consider to be the best time for thinking. (Also, I think too much!)

What will I be next? (No, seriously. I need help with that question!)

PHILOSOPHY

I can be quite the philosopher - and I do tend to overthink things. I think you can learn a lot by just talking to people, hearing their stories, and I believe that even friendly silence can produce a tight bond between people. Communication is my biggest interest, which is why I devoted my life to studying languages. I would like to become a teacher one day - I think I have what it takes, and I enjoy helping others acquire knowledge.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently living in a dorm, and am doing a lot of travelling around Japan, so I can't be a host yet! Depending on my future housing, that may change.
I am up for hanging out and showing you around Belgrade (once I'm back in Serbia)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This is my first time on couchsurfing.com! I hope my first experience will be awesome!

Interests

cooking, reading comics, reading books, drawing, singing in the shower and whilst cooking, swimming, making & drinking cocktails, playing video games (although I would never go as far as to call myself a gamer!), taking walks, drinking coffee and exchanging life stories with people

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Neil Gaiman's creations, most of all his comic book/graphic novel Sandman, and his novel American Gods! I read a bit of Lawrence Durrell back in high school, and my favourite Serbian writers are Ivo Andric (our Nobel prize winner) and Milos Crnjanski - inspiring and philosophical, but not in a pretentious way. The Master and Margarita. Chronicles of Amber. The Picture of Dorian Gray. I like to mix things up.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Been to Japan. That alone should speak volumes about what I might have done and seen. I have been to one of the world's fastest and tallest roller coasters. I have been studying one of the world's most interesting languages (Japanese). I have dyed my hair turquoise.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like hearing people's stories and experiences - and I tell mine in return. Because I always have questions and think about everything and anything, sometimes these things will randomly spill out, and possibly lead to a discussion! Is there anything better than sitting on a veranda during a storm with warm sake in hand, pondering the meaning of life? (There probably is haha)

Also, I love cooking for others - let's cook something together!
